The Official PSN Store Update Thread (Updated 2/21)

Original Post will always refresh every Tuesday with the newest Store updates. Please allow up till 7pm PST for the Store Update to occur every Tuesday. Check back every week and join in the discussion and feedback! - Morgan / mochuuu

With the official launch of PS Vita at hand, we're augmenting last week's PS Store launch on PS Vita with another stellar update as well as some new PS3 Full Games, world class demos and one pre-order opportunity you won't want to miss.

To start, one of the biggest games of the year is coming straight to PSN, the same day it’s available at retail. Mass Effect 3 will be available to download on March 6th and to celebrate, we’ve partnered with EA to bring you a special pre-order on the PlayStation Store. Pre-order on the PlayStation Store now and get the M-55 Argus Assault Rifle and the Mass Effect 3 - Take Earth Back Theme.

PS Vita games are also easy to look to as the star of the show this week. Games like TALES FROM SPACE: MUTANT BLOBS ATTACK, Touch My Katamari and Plants Vs Zombies pepper the PlayStation Store with some great gaming experiences. There's even a new PS minis triple pack from Grip Games with 3 of their best hits, playable on PS Vita. But don't miss out on the other Vita-only experiences like the AR (Augmented Reality) games Cliff Diving, Table Soccer and Fireworks. You'll also be excited to see the first wave of apps for Vita hit with Facebook, Live Tweet, Flickr and Netflix arriving with today's update. Starting today, you'll be able to find all the above PS Vita experiences easily viewable from the PlayStation Store on your PS Vita and PlayStation 3. There is now a special PS Vita Games category on the PS3 PlayStation Store as well.

You'll want to watch the PS3 Full Games category for great new additions with Mafia II and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II. But if you're looking for something more bite-sized to download, get your hands on EA's SSX via the demo. It's your first hands-on with the definitive version of the game as the PS3 version will have the entire Mt. Fuji mountain as an in-game exclusive.

PlayStation Plus subscribers get a chance to snag 6 great Sega Genesis classics this week. Newer subscribers may not have had a chance to get these gems when they were available last year. Now, they’re all available free this week in PlayStation Plus. Subscribers also get access to great discounts like 50% off Hamilton’s Great Adventure.

There's much more to uncover with today's update so make sure you check out all the details below. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below or join the discussion on the PlayStation Community forums in the Official PlayStation Store Update thread.

Great update for PS+ ... I have never been a huge RE fan, but getting these PSOne Classics free, to throw into my PSP right before vacation is a welcome new distraction.  I have told myself that I am not going to do the RE4 thing ... will see what happens there, but 50% off day one is pure joy.  I haven't decided on Cubixx; mostly because of time (I already have a huge backlog of other commitments), but I love the 30% off deal.

Wanted to take a minute to post outside of the PS+ board - day one discounts are great!

Re: The Official PSN Store Update Thread

Not listed in the update, but at a steep discount are Star Wars games for PSP. There are three for $2.50 each, and there are $2.50 DLC expansions for The Force Unleashed (three of them) and two $1.25 character packs for the same game (those being plus prices). Thing is, those expansions are for the PS3 version of the game only. So even though they are listed right next to The Force Unleashed for PSP, they don't work on the PSP. Nowhere on the expansion's description itself does it say that it only works on the PS3. If you navigate down from "all by name" on PS Store there are separate folders for The Force Unleashed on PS3 and PSP and you can see from that context that the addons are in the PS3 game folder, but from the discount folder you can't tell. I feel ripped off for $10. Ideally, they would have updates to those DLCs so I could use them on PSP, but I'd even be happy with store credit. Buying TFU for $20 for PS3 at this point seems like an obnoxious solution to me.

Also, the PSP failed repeatedly in downloading the content. I ended up putting them in the PS3 d/l queue and transferring via USB. An update to make the PSP d/l from store more robust or at the very least, recover from where the last d/l failed seems to be in order.

Overall I do like the update and will be checking out burnout crash as soon as I can find my ea password...

Yeah, the 3 free (or even on sale for non PS+) RE games are a great deal.  I am slightly disappointed since I bought RE3 on sale a few months back since I had never played it, and I still have the other 2 on PS1, but it's nice to be able to play them again on PSP.  I will pass on RE4 (already own 2 copies) but will pick up Code Veronica next week, another one I never played.

Re: The Official PSN Store Update Thread

A quick question and the answer will be appreciated, I´ve only used PLUS once and it was the free month we received after the hack, so im not that familiar with the process, so...

the 3 RE originals are FREE if you´re a subscriber, does that mean that i get to keep them even if, lets say i only have a 3 month membership card and i discontinue afterwards? or is this ¨Free¨ meaning that i have to keep a subscription in order to play them?

Please help with the answer cause if the seconds question is the case here i much rather buy the games and have access to them w/o the PLUS

Re: The Official PSN Store Update Thread

Anything free from PS+ can only be used while you are subscribed.  If you buy something, it is yours to keep.  So, for example, if you wanted both RE4 and Code Veronica, you should get PS+ since you will end up saving some money and getting PS+ on top of it.  But if you do want to buy 1-3, you should do it before getting + just in case (I don't think it lets you buy it when it is "free," so you would miss out on the sale).

I have a question that i can't find answer, and I'm bad at using forums... Is playstation one's ghost in the shell game that is published by thq and sce ever coming to playstation store? I bet that is one of those games that many would like to buy and play again. I have always wanted to play that game ever since I played it on a demo disc And was there a site on playstation blog where you would leave your opinion on what classic games should be released in ps store?

Well clearly you are new .  Welcome!  This is the PS+ section of the forums; normally people would post this in the PSN Downloadable Games section since it has nothing to do with PS+.  But anyway, the real place you should post if you want it to happen is Playstation Blog Share (http://share.blog.us.playstation.com/).  You could also contact the developer/publisher of the game and ask them.  Posting in the forums won't help it happen, although some people just like to discuss and reminisce about old games.

    You can just look here

    http://us.playstation.com/ps-products/BrowseGames?type=Downloadable&beginsWith=Any

or on wikipedia, etc.  I don't think it really needs to be a thread in addition to that.

Is there any way to find out ahead of time which free game demos are going to be available for download on PSN in the coming weeks? I need to know if PSN will have a free Resistance 3 demo or a Deus Ex Revolution demo anytime soon. Does anyone know?
