So I just popped in the game and holy wow, this game is beautiful. From the intro the feeling of what you're about to experience is instant. Those that have said the graphics are meh or not that good are either blind, insane or severely mentally challenged. This is THE best looking open city game there is. I can only see perhaps the likes of FO3 competing with this but that game uses resources differently than Infamous cause of it's scale.
Regarless, the texturing and graphical look totally drips in high quality. I jsut started the game and I just almost spat when remembering all the BS FUD that's been spread about this game on many gaming forums.
So far I've experienced a major pop-in scenerio but nothing ground breaking but to give this game a 6, 7 or even an 8 is an obvious move to try and blatantly keep people away from this awesome game merely cause it's a Sony exlcusive. Hell, EA'a Table Tennis gets 8.5s like crazy and this someone wants to tell me this game is a "meh"?! RIDICULOUS! It's disgusting how the gaming community have become. All I see is Sony continually pushing boundries trying to bring us great new gaming experiences and every time they are nick picked to death but others can churn out last gen games with minor upgrades and they're given all the praises.
Hell I saw a review that gave Punch out for the wii a 9.5 when the game is exactly the same game from over a decade with more refined graphics and even missing fighters. It's just unbelievable to me how we gamers seemingly look to implode on our ownselves when it comes to our gaming experiences where mediocrity is hailed and progression is hissed at.
Look, if you even had a tiny thought of getting this game just do it. It's a gamer's game and a lot of pure clean fun. I've only played a little bit so far but from what I've experienced, this game is very special. Haters be damned. Go out and support developers that actually try to bring us great fun and new gaming experiences not those that keep rehashing old games with little to no innovation or thought and banking on gamers misplaced nostalgia.
I agree with you 100%. The game is amazing (even though difficult at times, but what great game isn't). Too many "gamers" now a days are jaded towards almost anything. inFAMOUS is a genuinely fun game. It has glitches but most (if not all) games have them. You have to judge a game clearly on the merit of it's fun factor. ***Note to all the haters*** If you honestly don't like the game, I can respect that point of view but don't bash the game and make remarks on how much it sucks. If it's not for you, then it's not for you. Get over it.

Everyone is picky about the games they play because we all have our own interests. Like if you say you prefer Resistance 2 over Gow 2 then your a Sony fan rather you just like it better. Infamous is a great game from what I can tell in my opinion. However, not everyone is going to agree with that. For some people, its not the amount of fun that they look for, but content and quality as well. As for me, I am an owner of all 3 next gen systems, and I love all of them. They each appeal to me in different ways as well as the games I get for them. I don't think its a matter of picking sides but expectations. From certain companies there are expectations especially if they feel that company can do better whether it is a game or a console. Those expectations come from consumers, critics and even the developers themselves. I have played games from the orginal nintendo to dreamcast to now Wii, and honestly I have never picked a company to stand beside and declare its better . These companies are like Mickey Ds and BK. There are some things people like better at Mickey's than Bk and vice versa. You can't label some one because they like something more and you can't knock it if you haven't tried it.
Back to infamous, if you haven't tried it, check out the demo on the ps3 or head to your nearest GameStop or Gaming Store to test out the game. To me its an enetertaining game and I recommend it. However, should you not like it, its all good, just find something that works for you. Remeber, Please do not bash any game because it is not to your standards. A lot of people have worked to bring those creations to life and it is not right to step all over their hardwork, with rude remarks.

Just read through all the posts. I was surprised to hear people talking poorly about this game on review sites, but I can understand some of the issues.
I'm a massive perfectionist - so I'm forcing myself to complete each island to 100% and gather every shard... The problem with this? The game does indeed get repetitive very quickly (all the missions are similar and the enemies only change per island... and only in appearance and life), especially when hunting those random packages that require camping out in an area killing the same foe over and over, or worse hunting those and not realizing that you actually have to go further in the story before you can continue unlocking because the sides quests are reliant on the main quest.
Does this really make me not like the game? No. However, it does make the game start to lose its touch by the very end though (as is to be expected, I guess). To make things worse, I'll probably replay through for the opposite alignment (a requirement to obtain the platinum trophy, which I do want for this game as I do like it), and I'm sure by the end, I'll be massacring innocents just because I'm bored of killing the soldiers who all act the same. Yet, that offers up the real fun of this game. Even when you get annoyed, the slaughtering of people is ALWAYS fun. Watching someone get electrocuted is quite a blast.
As for the graphics, they are nothing spectacular, and that's the problem. As new games are being released, each one is required (it seems) to have even better graphics than the last. Failure to achieve this means that some other aspect of the game MUST be extraordinary. This game seems lacking in that. It feels like other fun games I've played, just in this one, I get lightning.
Now for me, all of these aren't problems, but I can definitely see that this game isn't ground-breaking in the least. So for that, I can understand it getting a slightly above average rating. I do NOT think this game deserves a 9 or a 10. MGS4 was incredible, and it offered an amazing multiplayer form. I'm still playing Killzone 2's multiplayer, and I couldn't put the game down through singleplayer (despite the story being a bit typical for a war-like story)... These are just a few examples of games which have earned some good praise. This game, though it is good, is not spectacular by any means. In a few years, this game will most likely be fully retired and forgotten...
The point of everything I said: Just because other games which you don't much like are getting high ratings does not mean that this one deserves the same... However, I do agree, the gaming community reviewers and critics are losing any real credibility, that's why I'm so glad we can now download demos for most games and not have to rely on anyone telling us what's good. If you really want to fix the rating system, rate fairly for all games... Don't adjust to the "community's" rating system... Otherwise, they'll just start giving 10s for everything.
If you're thinking of getting this game: check out the demo... There are some much cooler abilities and much more fun missions and slightly different enemies (though for the most part, its the same enemies throughout - I think total there are somewhere around 10 different types of enemies you'll be fighting throughout the whole game), but overall, the game will be just like the demo from start to finish (which I didn't think was a bad thing).
If I were rating this, I'd give it a 7/10 (at the most). A good game to play, but nothing ground-breaking or stunning. The story is very interesting, but there are many moments later in the game when it starts to feel too... overloaded (you should be able to grasp my meaning if you've played through)... and its possible to start to lose interest in it as a result (especially if you're going for a 100% completion, which is always foolish on the first play-through).
