*NEW MAP* "OPERATION VULCAN STRIKE" [Rough Version]

OPERATION VULCAN STRIKE **MAP** VULCAN FOREST 

 

I was just recently posting in Schnzr's thread, and I came up with the idea for this new map.  It'll be a forest/mountain/volcano map.  This new map would be huge.  Vaporfield huge. Here is a link to the photobucket album I'll be posting all concept art into.

 

**NOTE - This thread was originally just for the purpose of getting the idea of the map out there, but it took off, so I'm putting down ideas that sound pretty awesome

 

The Environment

 

The forest.

The forest would be like a dense Brazilian rainforest.  Vegetation would be thick and there would be mist hovering around the ground.  The only break in the trees and shrub would be for the occasional meadow where a warhawk or ground vehicle could be kept.  Bases would be like abandoned Mayan temples.  There would be sniper points up in the trees. (like when you go deer hunting)  You would be able to hear birds chirping and bugs buzzing, trees cracking.  All the trails cut into the brush would either lead to other bases or to the base of the giant mountain. 

 

Edit(Sackboy8255):  Temples wouldn't have been just found, these would have been occupied for enough time to be outfitted with a Missle turret at the top, and 2 flak turrets on the middle stories.  MG turrets would surround the base.

 

Edit2: 4x4s would be raised so that they can withstand the terrain better.

The Mountain side

 

This would be a way up the mountain to the volcano and central base.  There would be a few bases on these cliffs / passage ways.  bases would be a flag jutting out from the rock with a few of the sandbag bunkers.  Mounted Machinegun turrets would be in great numbers here.  Brush would be sparse, and sunlight would be intense.  Ladders would lead up some of the cliffs.  Not obnoxiously long ones, but about the length of the ones up to sniper towers.  These ladders would lead to pathways up the mountain or roads for ground vehicles or flat areas under cliff edges for warhawks.  Soot would also be raining denser and denser as you get closer to the top of the mountain. 

 

Edit: Soot would become denser and more prevelent as you reach the summit.  Vehicles would have 2 main routes up the crag. 

 

Edit2: There will be 2 huge roads like those in Archipelago.  these roads will branch off near where the plateaus are and the other vehicles / hawks are kept.

 

Edit3 (Sackboy8255) Sand bag bunkers would be about twice as big as normal, for extra protection.  A few in each base would have a platform to walk up on that would aide snipers.

 

The Volcano

 

There will be one base up dead in the middle of the volcanoe.  It would be supported by wires, and players would walk across on cat walks.  They would also have to abandon their jeeps.  You would be able to see the heat rising as you are walking towards the middle to take the base.  All the weapons would spawn in this area. (like the hidden area in DC) There would be enough clearance inbetween the walkways so that warhawks could fly under and into the steam of the volcano searching for the TOW missle spawn. 

 

Edit(jasjandi): This volcano could erupt every 15 mins.  setting the middle base back to neutral and wipeing out all life, including warhawks.  (that are inside the volcano that is)  Lava would pour down shoots and could invade other bases.  It would also add different textures to the rock of the cliffs (basically all hell brakes loose when it erupts)  Soot could also be raining down at random intervals during momentum changes in games.

 

Edit2(its_a_bird): The team that controls the volcano base at the time of eruption gets a major advantage.  The lava will be directed at the opponent's main base / side of the mountain. 

 New Vehicle(s)?

A helicopter would be imensely helpful in this map.  This twirlybird could transport 4 people other then the pilot.  These men could man MG turrets and shoot down and innocent bystanders (Noir/ Drew) The chopper would be slightly faster then the dropship with armor a little stronger then the warhawk / nemesis.  It would spawn in clearings around the jungle.  Rodors could be constantly going.  (just think this would be awesome, like a war movie)

Edit (PREDATOR08) - helicopter doesn't have MG turrets, you fire the weapons that you are holding, a random one is also added to your arsenal.

 

Motorcycle/ dirtbike (stealth Feature) - this would be a two person vehicle.  With normal speeds as fast the APC boost.  Players would take the same damage that the bike takes because of there being no armor.  The player that is not driving would sit with their back up against the other player firing backwords covering from Tanks / Warhawks. These bikes would be able to go almost anywhere in the map, even on the catwalks on top of the volcano.  A splatter (runover) would only do half damage to the opponent, unless it is at full speed in a clearing. 

Edit - Stealth feature?  would work much like the warhawk stealth, lasts 10 secs but can't be used while carrying a flag carrier.  takes a minute to recharge

New Weapon(s)?

Machette - just a large knife.  It can clear some minor vegetation in preparation for a flag carrying jeep or for vehicles to take unorthodox paths through the forest.  you spawn with it instead of the knife.  The wrench overlays it, much like mines and BFGs

 

Active Camo - This would be ideal for snipers or anyone trying to move without being detected.  It will alter the player's armor so that they blend in better with the environment.  It won't turn you completely invisible like halo though. with a knife out and in crouch mode, a player can sneak through the forest withought being seen by any enemy, unless the enemy is good.  The camoflage will also change when you reach the crag.  This will only last for 5 mins.  (shorter depending on how long original timer is) The camo will spawn every minute 30 secs like the binoculars, It'll just be harder to find

 

Mortar - Controls- The mortar is like no other weapon yet, you set the mortar down and you aim, which it will show a red dot on where you will hot and then you fire with the normal fire button for all ground weapons.

Damage- A hit in your general area to a troop would be like hitting a land mine sudden death and to a vehicle, it would hurt the vehicle badly or on the rare occasion of a direct hit instant DEATH! XD

Description- The mortar launcher is a weapon used for powerful quick blows to cripple an enmy force, much like a set of binoculars but instead of having to have the target in sight you can pull up you minimap and use that to aim. In seconds a round goes in the air and lands in the general area that you fire in with a medium deadly radius that would kill troops almost instantly and put vehicles in critical stages of health.

Warhawk Shield - used in the air, extends life of a hawk

Controls- While flying if shield in enventory switch to the shield which also takes the place of Stealth, then press the normal secondary fire button and the shield will switch on the shield basically gives you more health then so you can take more damage.

Damage- The warhawk shield does no damage just allows you to take more when selected.
 
Description- The warhawk shield was developed to help warhawks survive a hit from their greatest enemies the turrets. Though the warhawk driver is given the disavantage that they have to select the shield from their inventory which means that they are only aloud to use the machinguns when the shield is up
 
Spawn Time- 1 minute and a half so not as many warhawks have it so it doesn't become overpowered.

Napalm Grenade -

Controls- A secondary for the gernade you press l2 to switch and then l1 to throw

Damage-  Does fourth- half health bar to troop and then lights the area on fire for a small radius causing slow damage over time like the bio field generator accept it hurts your team too.
 
Description-  A gernade filled with gas and when thrown blows up into a fire inferno. Engulfing enemies in fire. Used in war to get enemies out of shelters throw one through the window then wait for them to run out and gun them down.

Spawn Time- 10 seconds

FLARE (spawn weapon) - gives away your position to both your team and enemy.  Could be used by players who downloaded the game and don't have mics. 

Controls- Like any other gun you aim and fire and a loud boom goes of and flares shoot everywhere.
 
Damage- Does no damage at all.
 
Description- The flare is a soldiers best friend other than a gun. If lost or in need of help a flare is fired in the air to rally allies togother. When you respawn you start with 1 flare shot. You can pick up flares from dead ally or enemy packs. Max Flares 3.

Spawn Time- Flares are non spawn weapons.

MODIFICATIONS TO NORMAL GAME

WARHAWK CRASH IDEA-----When flying in a warhawk if you get shot down by machine guns, maybe flak cannon, and maybe lightning gun, you don't just explode, your plane goes spiraling towards the ground. The person who shot you will get the kill like it exploded but you have a chance to crash your warhawk into a group of players for kills or damage. When shot down by missiles or really anything else you explode like normal. No matter what, once you're "health" is depleted you will die right after your last attempt for kills and the other guy that shot you gets the kill after he drained your plane of it's "health." (IGN)

Layouts:

Big Kahuna - players can only use the mountain, keeping the main volcano base is key to spawning and winning the game.  (could also be a new game mode)

 

Face off -  in this ground only layout, the fog and vegetation is so thick that snipers have no chance.  The stealthy will win in this forest.

 

Ring of Fire - epic battle on the rim of the volcano, fight to the death in this small map around the rim of the volcano.  It could be used for TDM or DM 

 

Temple Terror - Layout that includes 2 of the bases from the forest.  They would reflect Mayan Temples and would just go above the canopy for snipers to get a clear view. only 1 or 2 warhawks would spawn per home base to keep it ground oriented

 

Landslide  -  A lot like the Eucadia Layout.  One team has the cliff face, the other has the jungle and two temple bases.  Sniping wouldn't really be an advanatage to the cliff side because of the dense vegetation

I think it sounds good.

 

What kind of new vehicle/weapon would this new add-on have.

 

A shotgun might be fun in a dense jungle setting.

I don't think it should necessarily need a new vehicle for it, but a helicopter would be cool.  I'd like to see this as a free with a 1.5 patch.  but I'd understand if they had to sell it.

my suggestion would be something like a dense jungle/rainforest with aztec or mayan pyramid buildings. something like Teotihuacan  with the sun and moon pyramids for a layout. have the volcano spewing out ashe and smoke at random intervals.
