Any tips for a noob?

I know this sounds pretty ridiculous, but I just bought Warhawk about a month ago. I can't seem to get into the game, because I'm forever being the victim of either a well-hidden mine, an A2G assault, or a baserape. I know I can't do much of anything about the A2G's or the baserapes, but I know there must be something I can do about mines. Is there a secret? For example, on Destroyed Capitol (CTF), I went to run up the opposing base's stairs, and I got killed by a mine under the stairs. I mean, is the point to look under every nook and cranny before you walk anywhere?

Also, just any tips in general? I'm pretty bad at the game lol, but I can hold my own in 1v1 situations. Is there something special I should be focusing on to improve? Also, (I know, a lot of questions :smileytongue:) what should I be doing in CTF? I usually just try to capture bases, die a million times, and end up throwing myself at their flag, never really making any progress. If you wanna play some games, maybe drop some pointers, please msg me at TheCougar44 on PSN. It's a long story about my username on here, but yeah, that's the account I use 99.9% of the time. Thanks in advance! :smileyvery-happy:

I'll be willing to help you out with some pointers. I travel most weeks for work but normally carry a PS3 with me. I didn't bring it this week due to the hotel not having HD tv's but i will be home Thursday night about 11 pm cst. Send me a FR and let me know what times work for you and i will set up a server to help you out.

Bus_Driver is a good cat to work with man, he's helped me out a few tight spots in the past. My only advice: Don't stand still.

Re: Any tips for a noob?

that should read don't stand still if you are on the other team. With me the other team is fair game no matter who they are or what clan they are in. However, if they are in my clan i may go after them a little harder than the rest of the enemy!

Re: Any tips for a noob?

On the mines yes also a charged lighting gun helps if avaible. Take bases and learn where to lay mines that could help you avoid baserpes, and if the situation seems hopeless use turrets(dont stay in the turret) and RPGs in your homebase and give the hawks hell at least you will die fighting... Your best bet is to always fight to take bases I know I walked past the bases closer to my home and stole bases on the enemies side of the field. Use an open map(select) to keep an eye on enemy hawks this is also useful when flying. Personally I use land mines as an offensive weapon(for flag runs) but you got to lay some in advance and some as you run away.

Re: Any tips for a noob?

You can hear the mines beeping and when it sounds really loud that's when you are close enough to set it off. When you hear it being very faint, that's when you start looking around a toss a grenade or use the flamethrower where you suspect it might be.

I usually avoid dying by mines by this method.

You can also hit me up on PSN, but I usually play mornings and on weekends. I can give you a ton of pointers.

Re: Any tips for a noob?

Thanks for all the responses, guys! Unfortunately, I do not have a mic. And also, I know this sounds dumb (and puts me at a disadvantage), but I generally play stuff like this with volume off. Weird, I know, but it helps me focus on specific things. Being a fighting game player, I know I can watch what my opponent is doing better if they aren't screaming at me in Japanese xD So yeah, I wouldn't be able to hear the mines this way. I'm pretty much on all week, but I won't be playing Warhawk most of the time. So yeah, I'll add some of you guys! Thanks again!
