Is there nothing that can be done about this INSUFFERABLE LAG?

2 replies 140 views Edited Mar 4, 2010

One punch kills, without being softened by gunfire.

Two-bullet AK deaths... not headshots.

Bursts of bullets from one player that all magically hit simultaneously.

Dying a full second after being completely behind cover.

Getting killed by grenades that are never seen or heard.

The game just randomly pausing and jumping for half a second.

I really cannot deal with it anymore.  Short of changing ISPs, which is not really an option, is there anything that can be done to improve lag time?

I had all kinds of crazy lag/constant disconnects, until I finally snapped and hardwired my Internet to my PS3.

So, if you haven't already, maybe give that a shot. It really beats having a wireless connection.

I've always run a wired connection.  One thing I just tried now is assigning a static IP address to the PS3 and having that address be in the "DMZ" zone in my router, so presumably that should help since multiplayer is done over P2P.

I wish there were specific tests that could be run, but I guess even pinging the matchmaking server if I had the IP address would be irrelevant since the ping rate to the other player that is hosting the match is what's important.

I just played a match against someone that was in Hungary I think, and his character was like... running in strobe motion.  That can't be good.
