Learn to use your camera, especially when you are in cover.
If you are in a 1 on 1 gunfight and there is cover nearby try to take cover if you can. When someone is rushing at you, blindfiring is very deadly and effective. Also try to strafe when shooting, this will make you much thougher to hit.
Some people hate when others do this (including me) but no denying it's effective. When you no your about to die and another person is in close dont be afraid to drop a grenade.

Very wise words, tiger. I think this one of the first ways you can improve your game SuperJeter.
Is it safe to say that you were a former Gears of War player in this case? Because I would like to respectfully remind you that GoW and U2 require two completely differenct approaches online. Avoid the urge at all times to try anything risky or "heroic-y," at least until you are better suited to the game. I remember my 360 pal came over so I could play GoW with him, and it was so hard to adjust to the concrete camera and roadie run of GoW. Not to mention it takes about +10 more bullets to down a foe, and on top of that, execute him in many game modes. Perhaps it’s the PS3-bias in me when I say I'm pretty satisfied with Naughty Dog's refusal to add a crippled stance before the player dies, because I would find having to go out of cover to perform the execution to be very risky. So yeah, try to remember the difference between GoW and U2 also means a new way of staying alive as well as killing the foes. Again, I will go out on a limb and say that maybe most of your deaths come from direct, no-cover related, gunfight combat. You know, what is often found in CoD? It’s whoever is the better shot. I myself believe myself to be a very bad shot, due to my poor performance in World at War and the like. So, to compensate for that, I always do my best to use cover to my advantage before engaging an opponent head-on. I mean, the advantage may seem minimal, but it’s there. I mean, a fighter’s gotta know when he can attack from cover, and when he’s gotta hide behind it to recuperate. In short, cover’s there, use it to your advantage against the CoD-like players who think they can kill anyone because they consider themselves a better shot. The beauty of the cover-based shooter is the fact that all players are essentially equal no matter who is the better shot, and victory goes to the player who uses cover more wisely than his opponent.
