Can you turn off the foul language in Drake 2? Kids play this ya know.

140 replies 2452 views Edited Oct 14, 2009

Any way to turn off the swearing in this game? Some games like Gears 2 let you take the harsh language out. And since PS3 is a video game, they know kids will be playing this game, why can't they make it an option?

Even adults don't need to hear all the swearing either. I'd buy more games if it weren't for the blashpeme. I know I sound old fashioned, but hey, this game has way too much of it. I don't exactly want to turn off the voice in the game because that adds to the experience. Any ideas?

It's rated T for Teen as in Teenager.

My 6 and 9 year old sons don't get to play it, because of that.  Seriously now...when the ESRB stamps "T" on the cover, please don't make the mistake of thinking you're going to be playing Bambi

USA Today; Average Video Game Player's Age = 29.

Every game is not going to be for everybody. Just like you wouldn't let a five year old watch The Godfather, this game might not be suitable for the youngins.

I understand, but again, some games will let you turn it off whether it's 17+ or Teen. Just asking, and wishing.

It's called, ask the children to please leave the room while daddy kicks some azz on Uncharted 2! Solve your problem?

I have to disagree with the OP. If you would like for your children to play more kid-friendly games, I would suggest giving them kid-friendly games to play. There are various titles to choose from; but asking for a game that has a target demographic of late-teen to adult audience to tone it down for kids is counter-productive and oxymoronic. It makes no sense in other words. (Not trying to be rude btw).

They are keeping to the U1 feel xD it's a "T" game in NA MA 15+ in EU & "C" in Japan "which is mature" this game is not intended for a young audience like alot of game's now a day's as most of us who been gaming since PSX have grown up and more adult gamer's are coming about. The language suits it no big deal .

I have an idea for you... don't be so sensitive. Words are only sounds until you assign some sort of meaning to them. If you're worried about your kids hearing the foul language (although I don't think you have any kids and I think the swearing just offends you) , simply play the game alone before they do, pay close attention to where exactly they swear and then sit with the kids while they play and use the 'mute' button on the remote to censor it when the characters swear.

Or just don't let your kids play it. That's why this game is rated "T" for teens. Suitable for ages 13 years and older.

And if you don't like the swearing, then don't play the game.

Simple.
