No, they won't release a game based on that universe, I made this post hoping a ND reads it and tell me why.
Why did you put those bullet trails when you shoot in Uncharted 2 when they we're not in the first Uncharted, just tell me the reason, it's stupid, I know you took things from Gears of War 2 to Uncharted 2 (shields, horde mode, giant armored bad guys with gatling guns, aim camera too close it's almost first person...) and that's not bad at all, but seriously, why did you also took the bullet trail, Uncharted universe weapons are real life and nowadays weapons, you cannot see what you shoot unless you hit something in real life, then why can you see a complete yellow line in Uncharted 2 while shooting? it's specially ridiculous when you shoot with sniper and you see that smoke trail after the shot, it's like... slow mo lol.
I remember gun fights in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune to be exciting, realistic and credible, in Uncharted 2, nevertheless, it's all about doing spam with your 92-whatever speed laser strange noise futuristic pistol (it certainly shoots faster than Uzis) or your 3 laser shots FAL and win. If you don't know what I mean, press R3 with a FAL, then shoot and look at these ridiculous trails.
So please consider bringing the old fire from Drake's Fortune to Uncharted 3, and remember this is not Star Wars, Gears of War, Halo or Matrix, Drake uses normal weapons, not laser guns with all those ugly trails.
Oh, and the camera when you manually aim in DF was way less close than AT one, which is clearly brought from GeoW, it's ugly, in DF you can see Drake's clothes moving while you aim, in AT you can only see his hair. Stop copying them, you don't need to do so, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune was awesome, I want its weapons fire back.
Please.

Well, no.
I mean, when someone shoots you, the part of the screen where they're shooting you from gets red, isn't that enough to notice that someone is hitting you? No, they didn't did that for multiplayer, they did it because Gears of War 2 did.
Anyways, what is that good for? in multiplayer, if you're being shot, you're dead, you cannot scape from overpowered AK-47, 3 hits pistol and lag, but that's another topic.

Yeah, it would be better if they looked back at DF instead of Gears.

To the first paragraph, Im glad that they added that kind of stuff. Bullet trails makes it so that you know where your enemies are. If you didnt know, on certain maps on the single player and most games online you wouldnt know what to do. Think of all the people that abuse corner shooting. If you didnt know where they were comming from not only could you cook up a good tactic to take them down, but you'd be wandering around like an idiot trying to figure out if its lag, dead body glitch or someone got outside the map.
The pistol does shoot pretty fast yes, but I think your looking way too much into this whole bullet trail thing. If you can precisely nit pick about bullet trails after playing the single play and multiplayer then you gotta be crazy. Why attack something that isnt even a big deal at all?
Ya know it really makes me wonder when people argue about certain aspects of video games. Firstly, when your playing a game, its never going to be the same as real life. Your not gonna feel the way you would in real life....nothing. If you want 100% real life, there's a perfectly good military, police force, gang, or even drug cartel you can join. LOOK AT THE STORY. You think uncharted is REAL? REALLY? Yeah I wish I had a nickel every time one of my friends ate blue shiny resin and hulked out and tried to kill people. I think its just silly for games to try and be real. Its never going to be. Well who knows actually. Maybe Call of Duty: Modern Warefar 633 on the PS25 will be.
So, just because they decide to move the camera closer its automatically from another game? How about when you aim and it simulates how a real person would aim? Did they also steal that? Really, you are looking too much into it. Besides, some maps are rather "big" and it helps to see your opponent when your camera isnt 40 feet behind you
EDIT: I did feel the GAU guys were a little off in the story, but gears or war isnt the only game to have them indicate when your being attacked by having blood (or something else) around the outside of the screen. It helps, and I really dont think its something to go crazy about. How fun would video games be if they just made 2 improvements and released them? Would you be happy if NaughtyDog released U2 with everything from U1? Same guns same HUD, same everything? Then turn around and do it for U3? Well Im sorry but that will never happen in any game ever. Except well gears 3 lol....that game doesnt look like it had changed much
EDIT 2: As for online, it wasnt always 2 bullet kills. It used to be a lot like the singleplayer till they ruined it with 1.05. They built the U2 mechanics around that, not around knowing that they could potentially ruin the game and make 90% of their fanbase angry

This is exactly what I don't like, "they did that for the multiplayer". It worked perfectly in the single player, it added alot to the feel of the game, now the gunplay is'nt as fun. Nate used to carry weight and momentum, now he just sort of sticks to cover and flicks out to take shots.
Yeah Uncharted is'nt real life, but they've come pretty darn close compared to other videogames. They should'nt have changed something that was'nt broken. If they really thought the camera was pulled too far back they could have just added the zoom feature to the pistols aswell.
12-20-2010 10:48 AM
I dont really mind zoom....I cant get U1 for a while so I guess I'll go back and play the demo again...hopefully its still on psn. But I doubt all these things will make that much of a difference to the game....I think you guys are just nit picking too much

You have'nt played Drakes Fortune... ![]()
Bassicly DF was so great because of these small details, and IMO is better animated and varied (aesthetically) than AT. AT is the superior game no doubt. It just took some steps backwards in certain areas.
I understand were you're coming from though this is a small aspect of the game, not even a problem but maybe if you read my thread you'll get were we're coming from.
Here. You'll be suprised to see quite a bit of people actually agree.
It's not so much of a rant, it's a bit more objective.

yeah, I agree changing the little things can make the game somewhat worse. I just hope they dont get call caught up in the whole "wow U2 was amazing, now we need to make graphics and story better!" Sure we want those things, but you just cant get wrapped up too much in one aspect of the game. Thats actually why Im a little worried about U3. There could be a ton of possibilities.
Its not like they WILL dumb down certain aspects of the game, and build others up, but its a possibility. Lets just hope for the best.

ok so I went and played some of the demo, already Im starting to notice a huge difference. I like how the guns sound, and people actually react to bullets more. Or so it seems. I like how the screen shakes a little too when your cover gets shot. Thats all I really notice as a difference really. it seems different from U2 alot actually. But I still think U2 is really good. I just hope U3 can combine the 2 and come up with something amazing.
