I know what you mean, I'm a girl who plays uncharted 3. I personally like to play as the girl characters ( not Marlowe though 
) and its hard too get much variation with Elena and Chloe. Maybe its time I start playing the guy characters for a change lol. Well I think it's only fitting if there is a custom male skin, there should be a custom female skin.
I think someone asked a question on the Q & As thread of April or June with the ND development team:
the question was: "Will you ever add a generic female hero/villain creation to the multi-player gaming? Right now there is just the male."
and the answer from ND was: "The custom character model rig that’s in-game for Uncharted 3 multiplayer is a rig that’s built around a male. Adding another custom model into the game would be a huge technical challenge for various resource related reasons. However, we will be adding some more custom parts for the principle female characters in an upcoming patch."
but I think that is false. if you observe the character models of Chloe, Elena, Marlowe. they run differently, their animations are different from the male character like Drake, Cutter, Talbot and other male characters.
same thing for the skeleton skins, if you observe Marco polo and the other 3 skeleton skins, you may notice that they run differently than the Male characters.
so there is ALREADY a female build in the game. so It is possible to add a custom female character, I don't know if ND would ever do it though.
