Re: Co-op Tournament (Bored Vets Sign Up NOW)

First of all I'm proud of being a part of the First Uncharted Coop Tournament, although i couldn't start from the beginning.

Thanks to Ali making it possible to let me enter the running challenge.

Fortunately some guys decided not to stay in the tournament so i could take the place of one of them. Nice for me.

This time I delivered a painful performance. I'm very disappointed and frustrated.

I thought about creating a new account to wipe off my ID from the face of shame.

At last there was coming up a double cash and rare treasure weekend - ok, i'll keep my account.

I loved the excitement the day before the challenges., this strange feeling in my stomach, when my hour is nearing.

Falling down ALWAYS i certainly didn't like.

We should proof safety precautions next time before playing :smileyhappy:

It is very nice to see, what some good ideas, a few of reliable guys and a creative mind can reach.

The challenges have been fair and not impossible to do.

Even i failed in every single task I had a lot of fun.

Thanks to my friend snake_2058. You are an awesome gamer and helped me exercising.

It's not your fault, dude. I'm too stupid to follow your tips and advices.

We tried all the challenges together and he completed them all nearly without faults.

Next time i'll do it better.

I wonder why Ali didn't record all the challenges from the point of view he did last time in highrise surprise.

I think it's much easier for him.

His job is hard enough.

To manage all the work (recording, cutting, creating challenges, testing them, writing down rules, typing the summary of every single participant, etc.) beside his "real" life earns our all respect.

Thanks, dude.

For the future i can imagine there could be a team challenge for 2 players.

It's a bit closer to the spirit of coop than fighting alone.

Maybe some day there are more than 8 gamers in the tournament and ND shows any reaction to what their costumers are able to do.

After all they did a rare treasure weekend ONLY for coop.

Wow! It's too much attention at once.

Re: Co-op Tournament FINAL RESULTS!!

[ Edited ]

Hey!  Congrats to Wannaca94 for his victory and huge props and respect to all of the contestants who saw the entire tournanent through and to those kind enough to join the contest late, yet stll compete all the way to the end.

Big thanks to Ali for everything he has planned, worked on, edited, and admistered.  Well done sir!

I'm still pretty depressed over Desert Dash, Monastery Madness, and Highrise Surprise.  Not due to the events, but due to my performance in them.

Let me say that I had MAJOR RESERVATIONS about participating in this event.  I do not consider myself anything special when it comes to Co-Op, UC3, or gaming in general.    I chose to participate because I wanted to fill a spot and make sure that the Tourney happened.

This tournament tested VERY SPECIFIC and varied skills in regads to Co-Op.  I never work on those type of things.  I don't play much two player Crushing, and I certainly don't play alone.  My game is predicated on supporting other, stronger players, scrambling, taking defensive positions, and putting ALOT of lead on target and down range.   The precision and execultion needed to be successful in this tournament was very demanding, and usually, I don't think or play that way.  I just kind of play and try to have fun.  Participating in this tourney was definitely outside my comfort zone, at least at the beginning.

There is a certain amount of randomness in Co-Op Crushing that most folks don't either see, understsand, or both.  This helps to account for some of the WILD SWINGS we saw on the leaderboard for this Tourney.

All in all I think it was very sucessful.  Espcecially in the sense that this has made others look at Co-Op in a VERY, VERY DIFFERENT WAY!

Other Co-Op tournies are on the Horizen.  I've been toying around with some planning myself, and I know JD-- has some ideas as well.  It would be nice if we could try to squeez a JD-- run and a SLEAZE run tourney in before TLOU comes out.

I'll return later today or tomorrow to comment further and leave feedback.

Thanks again folks!  It was a blast!  It was fun to particpate and think about this entire event.  Big props and respect to Ali for all he did, essenitally, by himself.

Re: Co-op Tournament FINAL RESULTS!!

[ Edited ]

Congrats to Wannaca from here too for winning. VERY nice job! :smileyhappy:

Also huge thanks to Ali for making this tournament! It was great to be a part of this. Even though I had some ups and downs (mostly downs), all the event were still very fun, exciting and CHALLENGING!

This is something we can never experience again, unless someone else comes up with a tournament too, but it'll never be the same..I'll never forget this. :smileyhappy: Thank you!

Overall I was a "bit" disappointed in my performance, but I blame the lack of practice I had. I really should have practiced more. For example, I could have finished (or at least scored one idol) during Desert Dash if I hadn't just rushed to the idol and instead think about what I should bring with me. I actually even managed to score two idols all by myself during Oasis few weeks ago when I was splitscreening with myself and leveling my boosters for the tournament.

Jungle Fever was just a big mess, I don't even want to talk about. :smileysad:

Quiet Riot..D@mn. I do pretty well with the RS and occasionally use it in the Arena, and I was so sure that I could get at least +20 kills with it, hell, maybe even finish the whole challenge! But when it started, the spawns weren't working like they did in the practice and it all went to hell then.

I could have been a lot better during the final challenge, but the game screwed with me. Climbing and grabbing the ledges in this game are really weird sometimes. Like, if you drop down from a ledge and want to grab a lower ledge, sometimes it does that and sometimes your character just falls to his/her death. Same thing with rolling. One time the character grab the ledge while he rolls, and next time (like in my situation) he/she just rolls down and dies.

But enough of my whining. :smileytongue: Again, THANK YOU Ali and all the contestants!

EDIT: JD? Why, JD? You were my hero, man! I had like, a totally not creepy worship place for you!

I have updated the OP, you can see the rules near the top of the thread.

This was the ONLY map that boasted 100s of places and areas where you could pull down enemies.

It's fun and risky at the same time. It's easy to fall and also difficult to lure the enemies to you or for you to risk going to them.

Yeah, I can't do that. I'm the jump king, not a pull down king. :l

Re: Co-op Tournament

Such a great Co Op Tournament!!! I have throughroughly enjoyed keeping up with this tournament and watching the videos and results, and movement of player posistions. You should be very proud of yourself Ali, this tournament turned out great, with very minor hiccups / setbacks, mostly not in your control. They challenges were kept interesting through the use of variety and skill level. Some were easy, some were super hard!!! Some required/allowed no shooting whatsoever, others required pinpoint accuracy.

You had a very good approach when it came to rules, times, player replacement. No one can question your fairness and continued encouragement of the players, regardless of how well they were/were not doing. The B2K tourment could deffo learn a thing or two from you on how to run a tournament smoothly, with minimal drama.

Big congrats to Wannaca for winning for the tournament, have to say, I didn't see that coming!! :smileytongue:

But that's part of the charm of Ali's Bonus points system, it gives players who are low of the tournament leaderboard posistion, a chance to make a great comeback, and never give up hope.  Props to all the other contestants who made this tournament possible, didn't back out, or back down, and made it very entertanining to watch with all your varied stratergies. You all deserve a pat on the back! :smileyvery-happy:

And lastly.... a HUGE well done to my main man, JD. You worked so hard for this tournament, and practiced througroughly for each challenge. I'm super proud of you & how well you did. I hope your pleased with yourself and your performance. Don't be too harsh on yourself JD, I KNOW you did your best.

Re: Co-op Tournament

Congrats, Wannaca, great job on winning the tournament! Thank you Ali, for making this happen on the scale that you did, with all the strategizing, planning, testing, coming up with something new that would put a new tweak on co-op play. Thanks for letting me enter even though I didn't have near the number of Crushings completed that you wanted. I really wish I could have stayed in and played the whole way through, but it just wasn't to be for me. Thank you Ali, for just even coming up with the idea of this to begin with, as JD and SLEAZE may hold future tourneys - YOU put the inspiration in others' minds that something like this could be done, whilst otherwise may never have happened at all. KUDOS to you Ali for everything you've done with this and especially your patience (heh) with all the players!
