The Last of Us Patch 1.07 Multiplayer Melee Changes

This thread is a discussion spot for the melee changes in Patch 1.07. 

 

  • Machete now interrupts melee like a gunshot would.  This, combined with the change to a 3-hit swing allows it to beat an upgraded 2x4 in a fight where both players swing at the same time.
  • Machete now has a 3 swing animation and takes 3 hits to down.
  • Upgrading any Melee Weapon now requires 3 items to upgrade (blade, binding and rag).

I like the fact that the machete can finally interrupt a upgraded nail board that's a nice freaking touch in my opinion great job how much hit markers would it have when you upgrade it cause when you have a machete
It's two hits when you upgrade its 5 so you have one good hit in left over since it takes two swings to down a person so when you up grade would it have 7? Or 6? I hope 7 cause the last hit Mark can really make a difference in my opinion

5 when modded. 6 if you have brawler.

machete has 3 base durability. 4 when upgraded, 5 if you upgrade it with brawler2.

Question, how many swings to execute a downed enemy? And will those swings take up durability?

So far I haven't seen the magnetic slide with an upgraded 2x4 where players would slide 10 feet to down you. But I have seen players swing thinking they will slide and they don't and then I just shoot them. Cracks me up every time.

Also how come different melee weapons like the bat or pipe weren't added to online? Could have functioned just the same as a 2x4

they wont. seems its still 2 to execute. 1 hit executions happen as well but its prolly due to other ppl shooting the enemy etc. considering fortitude it might be more than 2 tho.

Machete doesn't do **bleep** against laggy players. I was swinging way, but kept getting killed, even by standard melee. I'll try it again later on when I find players with more than one ping bar, but so far it feels like it was nerfed.

works with shorty for a 1/2 combo. (so prolly HR & bow too)

has 3 base durability that still regenerates on spawn.

interrupts 1hko plank.

generally kills a bit faster on its own i believe.

 

vs

 

bit harder to upgrade(just like plank).

upgrading adds only 1 durability without brawler2.

 

they did a pretty **bleep** good job with buffing it imho.
