Patch 1.06: Melee Changes Discussions

Please read and post all discussions about Melee changes in Patch 1.06 to the thread here:

 

  • Fixed bug where shooting a player who was melee'ing could result in the melee attacker aborting the move too late, after the melee victim had already taken the hit (or just the camera hit reaction).  Now melee attacks will only abort when the attacker is in the wind-up phase of the attack.
    • Note that because of latency, you may be seeing a player in the wind-up phase on your machine, but on her machine the attack is already connecting.  In this case the melee attack will not abort.  In our testing, which includes simulating latency situations, this creates a much more consistent feel to the situations where players are shooting melee attackers.
  • Balance fix to the "shiv dance": now if you damage a player, that player won't be able to shiv you for the next 3 seconds.

What about the "triangle" button priority for Shiving when another enemy down is near.
