Of finding ellie with joel during the winter part if ellie manages to kill david anyways. Did ellie need a hug? And the way david got stabbed was disgusting, u telling me he didn t see that weapon laying on the ground. Stab him in the back 3 times, but one stab flips his whole body over for ellie to go savage on.
add insight. Honestly the adrenaline was rushing for me to get into the bar and beat the hell out of david for trying to kill ellie, but than i find out ellie would have killed him regardless?
Okay, I'll bite.
Of course you'd have the urge to protect Ellie from David, that's natural. Ellie killing David shows that Ellie has grown into her own and is able to take care of herself. But, with being able to care for herself, she has lost that innocence from the earlier seasons (joke book etc). That's what's powerful about that section.
Watching Ellie grow, but leaving her childish innocence behind.
The point of that scene was to show the growing bond between both of them when they reunite.
Ellie goes completely mad and slashes David and Joel pulls her away from him, telling her to stop. She then acts almost like a kid and tries to justify it but starts crying. Joel then calls her baby girl and tells her everything is okay. That moment really looked like a father-daughter situation and that was the point of the scene.
