I live in Detroit and I would call it apocalyptic, seriously a TLOU live action movie can be shot here with no issue of moving people or finding locations. Sure there are still people here but even when I was a kid I remember going downtown and seeing no cars in sight and no people at all. it was so deserted to the point where you can speak and your voice would echo. I can't tell how occupied downtown detroit is today cause I hardly go there but yeah, this place is a dump. They have even turned off the street lights in some neighborhoods that are vacant to save electricity. My sister lives in a "neighborhood" where her house is the only standing house there. A literal neighborhood of one person and I've seen another woman on the news who is the only person in her neighborhood. So unsafe! I so can't wait to move out of here. Hopefully by the start of next year.

But yeah, if they are ever thinking of making a TLOU film, come to Detroit, you don't even need a set designer. lol!

Just check out these pics. I admit some of the places are beautiful in their decaying state. Looks like fungus can be seen on some of the stuff too.

You weren't down town then. Hockey Town, Comerica Park and the Free Mason Lodge is down town, not Highland Park where gangs roam.

Pictures of Chernobyl, Pripyat and the other surrounding villages in that area of Russia are pretty spooky.  More so than the abondoned parts of Detroit in my opinion.

Yeah, but people still live in Detroit, and Detroit wasn't induced to a huge amount of nuclear radiation because of a failing nuclear power station. But Pripyat is pretty TLoU-ish too.

I just heard about it on the news, there was news that Detroit was completely broke, and they needed financial help or something, half of the citizins left already due to crime and almost no police on the streets, sounds pretty bad to me, in The Last of Us I didn't believe that nature would take over so quickly, but now that I see that picture you posted I think it can happen Smiley Happy

Trust me, I was downtown, right at the renaissance center. The place was deserted as hell. But once again I was a kid back then and haven't been there much since. I've been around the casinos though (not recently) and those areas looked very bleak too.  The only area I remember as being packed was greektown. I'm not trying to offend you, but Detroit isn't considered an abandoned city for no reason.

A real sign not photoshopped. lol!

Maybe it's just me but i'll love to visit either Chernobyl or Detroit and walking around in these desert places.

I'm not a social guy, i generally prefer to stay alone and in a place like that i would feel free to do whatever i want.

And then there is the nature, it's so beautiful to see how it grows in human beings absence.

That is a part of Detroit that is deserted on purpose. It has nothing to due with the bankruptcy deal aand has been like that for MANY YEARS! Great place for photogrpahy though
