^ A statement on the Zombie Bait Edition:
We deeply apologize for any offense caused by the Dead Island Riptide “Zombie Bait Edition”, the collector’s edition announced for Europe and Australia. Like many gaming companies, Deep Silver has many offices in different countries, which is why sometimes different versions of Collector’s Editions come into being for North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia.
For the limited run of the Zombie Bait Edition for Europe and Australia, a decision was made to include a gruesome statue of a zombie torso, which was cut up like many of our fans had done to the undead enemies in the original Dead Island.
We sincerely regret this choice. We are collecting feedback continuously from the Dead Island community, as well as the international gaming community at large, for ongoing internal meetings with Deep Silver's entire international team today. For now, we want to reiterate to the community, fans and industry how deeply sorry we are, and that we are committed to making sure this will never happen again.
Dead Island Riptide is getting a collector's edition in the form of the Zombie Bait Edition.
The limited edition contains a steel book case, artwork, and a weapon DLC. Which is wonderful, but may be over-shadowed by the HEADLESS FEMALE TORSO included in the edition.
Australia or select European countries will be the only ones getting their hands on the special edition. We here in the States will just be getting our hands on the Rigor Mortis edition.
^ tacky!
In the bundle, gamers will find: a small suitcase for carrying your zombie survival needs on a beach, a bobble hula girl figuring that’s been zombified, a dismembered, beer bottle opening, magnet zombie hand, and a bungalow key with a wooden keychain attachment.
In addition, the Rigor Mortis Edition will include a copy of the Dead Island Riptide Special Edition for console, packed with a treasure trove of extra DLC content and a helpful digital strategy map. All of this is embalmed in the ultimate Dead Island replica suitcase – the most iconic item from the original Dead Island.
Everything in this bundle was chosen by thousands of fans through an online survey. The voting went on this past fall, found on Dead Island’s community website.
For $80, all of this can be yours today on a first come, first serve basis. Now available in North and Latin America in very limited quantities.
Dead Island Riptide will release in North America this April 23rd.
^ They should have stopped at 1.38.
Deep Silver’s announced a Dead Island sequel, subtitled Riptide.
The game is adding a fifth playable character, and he is a fisticuffs-based character. His name’s John Morgan.
“For years he has trained himself – and become a master – in hand-to-hand combat. His career in the US Navy has not taken off as he originally had envisioned, so he spends his time as a cook on a military ship. Little does he know that soon he will have to bring his skills into practice when the ship nears the island of Palanai.”

Can't wait for it. I had a good time with DI, even with it's obvious flaws (I've had the worst online experiences with this game). I hope Deep Silver fixed those flaws and added more features to it.

I have recently bought Dead Island and so far it's a good game. One thing really missing is a day night cycle though. It needs to be more dark in the game. I also hope Riptide will have more emphasis on survival.
