What if every weapon was a pick up?

I was just thinking what would it be like if all the weapons except the pistol and rifle were spread across the map. And the supply bunker and sniper tower were just buildings with ammo.

Would this work?

Maybe we could get a game option for this?

When I played the dust map in Starhawk, I'll always go for the proximity mine pick ups and set up a hawk pad so my teammates or myself could pick up the torpedo. I like how in Warhawk the binoculars were in certain locations of the game to send air strikes against enemies on bases they captured. Weapon pickups gives players are reason to get out of homebase instead of camping.

^This. Same with vehicles. If you wanted vehicles in Warhawk you'd need bases. Not the case in SH.

They still wouldn't leave. I kinda had a soft argument with a few different peolple here and there where I would start breaking their balls about it by asking them if they were coming to summer camp in May and if they knew any good ghost stories they could tell while we warmed ourselves by the turret farm as they screamed "shut the *** up ******!" at me.

To them camping = winning.

On the one hand they're right, it is good winning strat, but on the other hand the game needs to be structured in such a way as to force those people out of their comfort zone here and there.

Games are human input based, tune them based on human input.

Definitely agree that certain weapons should spawn around the map. But still keep the stuff spawning in the structures just have them respawn really slowing. It doesn't help that you can pop down a bunker and as long as you stay there have infinite ammo since by the time you fire one shot you already got another weapon pick-up.

As you've seen with the land mines and repair tool, having weapons across the map make people want to leave the home base. And if they were to add MAW, Shotgun, and Railgun pick ups around the map they'd need to have a faster respawn time than the ones that spawn in structures (which already stated needs to be lengthened considerably.)

If not vechicles at least some weapons or rift that can change the outcome of the battles. Theres no reason to head to the middle anymore well at least in dust.

Hmmmmm......

  • Weapon Pickups - Yes please
  • Prebuilt base - Yes
  • Prebuilt-capturable bases - Sweet
  • No Auto Turrets - YES!!!!

Holy crap the game is infinitely better....wait that's called Warhawk....wait Starhawk's combat is still bad (IMO)

EDIT: forgot to mention indestructable prebuilt bases except for manned turrets
