Suggestion For Tanks Without Nerfing Them

After some experimenting and reading about all the complaints about tanks being overpowered I thought about this.

If LBI plans to keep the tanks main gun as is (range, splash radius and sniper like accuracy) why not just have the main gun show up on the screen like the mortars. Give it a laser like indicator like the Railgun so you know when you're in it's sights.

From what I have read the biggest overall complaint is how deadly they are from a distance. Knowing where they are and what they are aiming (namely, you) would take some of the advatage they have away. Still keeping them deadly but not so stealthy.

I also think they shouldn't be able to shoot mortars so close to themselves. At least give someone on foot a chance to (if they don't get run over) grind or torch the thing.

For me the tank is not currently overpowered weapon wise but that it does have some advantages that keeps it alive (range distance and up close mortars) and that makes it hard to kill by anything other than another tank or Hawk (when available).

C'mon now the tanks are EASILY killed

I Nerf about 2-6 tanks (providing the map has them)

easily per game with only the hand held rocket launcher. it only takes TWO hits.

how much easier does it have to be? yes the guns are powerful as they should be

considering they made the tank out of "solid snakes cardboard box" therefore

I find the tanks to be Perfectly Balanced. having trouble killing them?

try getting Sneaky and creep up on them (jetpack helps here too lol)

are you kidding me?

are you that bad of a shot?

I can hit them and vanish before the rocket ever hits.

and I can hit them a long, long way away. they do NOT need lock on.

what we need is for players to enjoy the game and remain silent for a while

until we see what LBI decides to do.

tanks arnt overpowered and the main gun shouldnt have some indicator like the mortor mode. they arnt that hard to kill aslong as you dont try to stand right out infront of them were it is oh so easy to see you. at this point in starhawk their is very little i would change about the game and what little i would change has to do with the hawks not the vehicles on the ground

I don't disagree but I doubt LBI will do it.

Why again is lock only available for Hawks in the air?  Any private beta testers want to let us in on that discussion?

Right now Mechs and Tanks are the most deadly thing on the ground yet no lock on.

Is it due the tank's and Mech's weak skin? Or is it keeping rockets launchers from being over powered?

Don't remember seeing that discussion on the open beta forums.

absolutely right, for me, the game should not get big fixes, just a thing or other, nothing's op for me, people just need to figure that its all about strategy or go back for COD.

I never said tanks were over powered but this was respond to another post that LBI may nerf the tank somehow and that I was thinking of some other way to adjust for the tank's long range advantage instead of weakening what the tank has right now.

With the way the tank is modeled it is hard to see where the main gun is pointing and with it's map long range without any drop off I was trying to suggest an alternative than to lowering it range or splash damage.

I like the tank the way it is too but others have complained (a lot) about it and LBI sees something they may adjust.

What that change may be worries me a bit so I was suggesting something other than taking away the tanks strengths.

the reason the RLs dont have lock on against ground vehicles is they would have no way to counter them i mean its not like a tank or a razorback would be able to suddenly do a barrel roll and shake it off. with the wide open areas in starhawk making locking on to things pretty easy unlike in warhawk, giving RL's the ability to lock on would wined up creating severe RL abuse like we saw in warhawk
