So how can we make both sides happy?
I was thinking we leave the hosts ability to kick (obviously since I've been vocally supporting that here forever) BUT add a feature to the kick message.
When you are kicked from a game a message would come on your screen "You have been kicked, would you like to report the host for abuse" then a simple yes/no option.
What say you Starhawkers?

i could go for that, even though i would just prefer a nice VTK thing like MAG had.

I thought that's what would happen with the report feature in the first place...
And VTK would be worse then a host kick.

That's certainly a fair possibility.

I am all for this,to hinder any sort of abuse of this nature whether it comes from a poor host OR a poor sport/player would be the only thing I would worry about. What kind of precautions or punishments would multiple reports endure?
Unfortunately,I think a VTK would be the most well rounded kick-type system if implemented.I just do not ever see something like this being set into the game, but I could be dead wrong.

A player who deserved the kick would 99% surely report the host. One final vengeance on his part...
Which won't matter for a good host. Reporting doesn't in-and-of-itself have any penalties; LBI looks at reports and sees if there's a pattern and then watches the player in question; if there is something wrong THEN they take action.
Good hosts and players have nothing to fear from the report feature. Bad hosts and players do
Maybe also have the host give a reason why the person is being kicked; Abusive, TKing, Bad Builder, Harassment, etc.

Then why not place those safeguards before kicking and using the game stat tracking to allow or disallow a host to kick?
TKing - game tracks if the player has indeed TKed, allows to kick if so.
Harassing/Abusive - game tracks if mic is on or if player sent text message, allows to kick if so.
Building - game tracks if player has demolished team buildings, allows to kick if so.
I'm sorry but a player only building walls isn't a reason to kick if the game allows you to only build walls. If it was a reason, then the proper motive for that kick wouldn't be "Bad building", it would be kicking someone for being noob. And if that was valid, then hosts that are kicking player who are better than them would be just as justified.

Dude, in official servers go right ahead and do what you want.
In a player-run server, you have to follow the host's rules. If the host doesn't like you building 20 walls, he can kick you.
If you say something the host doesn't like, he can kick you.
If you TK, he can kick you.
How about you start learning what it takes to be a good host rather then a crappy player?

Took you long to end up resort to name-calling and accusing my person instead of my arguments, huh?
