Re: New Option For Server Hosts: Skills ON/OFF

The type of change it requires means it can't be done in one of our small, minor updates (you may have heard Dylan or myself refer to them as 'hotfixes') and would require inclusion in a full patch. So yes, its definitely possible after 1.04, just not with a minor update.

The only skills available should be the skills a player brings to the game.

More than a couple people suggested this LAST YEAR lol.

I realize this has been addressed already by LB in this thread, but.

Engine mod, weapons mod, quick lock, faster respawn, and several other skills shouldn't be skills at all, but part and parcel of the game by default.

Faster vehicles, more ammo capacity, even recon and stealth.  So many of these canned skills were already built into Warhawk and I challenge anyone here to say otherwise.  In Starhawk, the biggest majority just continue to feel gimicky.

As Dylan mentioned over the weekend we've wrapped production on 1.04 and sent it off to Sony for testing.  I've talked to our designers and they've confirmed that making this change isn't possible with a small update post-1.04.  They've heard that you want it though and put it on the list of requested features.

Wait it isn't possible after 1.04? so putting it on the list then would be pointless wouldn't it? Im assuming you meant IS possible after 1.04 or am I reading this wrong? (not trying to be a smartass)

Sony was paying for two last big patches.  they were 1.03 and 1.04.

Pete is saying unless Sony agrees to pay for more "Big" patches, LBI will not be doing it.

LBI from here on out, will only be doing "small" tweaks, unless someone is willing to pay the bills for a "big" patch.

So anything not in 1.04, will likely not ever be in Starhawk.

Thats some bad news for any that were holding out hope of radical changes.

Now to make a new thread

"Biggest missed opportunites in Starhawk"

or maybe

"Starhawk, what the game could have been"

Main points should include:

-The failure to include player controlled server options has removed any hope of.....

-The largest balancing issues resulting from a severe lack in player selected......

Since beta I been telling them, and since beta they been ingoring, and since launch they have been failing.

Thing is Sony will not continue to dump money into this game if it wont sell.

The game wont sell because new players jump in and get braped by hawks and tanks.

New players get braped because there is no option to not play with hawks and tanks. (No custom loadouts)

New players also get braped because there is no protection for them via newbie servers.

Potential new players avoid this game or have never even heard of it as Sony seems too embarassed to even advertise it.

I like this game, but am sad it has and likely never will reach its potential, and with sales like this Starhawk 2 with all the features and awesomeness I envision shall obviously never come to pass.

Thanks Pete and LBI!  :smileyhappy:

Hopefully things work out in such a way that this could be added in during the future.

But is there any chance that Sony will fund anything past 1.04, or will this probably be the last that we'll hear from you guys?

I sure hope you guys can stick around, it feels like Starhawk is almost to that point where it's ready to be re-advertised, now that most of the bugs have been fixed up.

Well I HOPE things work out where this is possible.  Would be awesome in the unranked, password protected, clan matches (have to get DJHaole to let us use it in the urgenfury tournaments too!)
