 a tip to builders....

flags and rift extractors are INDESTRUCTIBLE so there is no need to protect them with shields.

Also when building don't clutter up buildings and turrets, it just gives your enemy cover and hawks a chance to annihalate your entire base with one torpedo...space the buildings apart.( this does not neccesarily apply to walls at all times.)

Good advice. I was thinking about making a "What not to do" thread for a while, but I decided against it. By mentioning horrible ideas, many times you just perpetuate them (ie make them famous)––So in my opinion, the best solution would be to share how to do things effectively and effeciently.

So Keep those strategies coming, and a challenge for some of you more creative people out there: figure out and share how to use the shield (and general BnB set-ups)  in interesting and effecient ways. Chokepoints, come in mind, but fire away.

this might be obvious, but I'll throw it out here, since people may not realize. when you have the mines, if you don't use the last one you can resupply them w/ a regular ammo p/u.

EDIT: name- remine me

I learned that one a while ago, it's a smart one and I never use it.... I should.

Another good mine one which gets me everytime because I am stupid..... is placing a mine just a couple steps past the top of a ladder so you can't see it blinking until its too late.  EVERYTIME this gets me.

Re: Interesting & Efficient Tactics

How to fight a hawk:

-As a mech you get a lot of hawks dive bombing you with their MG's because they lock onto you.

There are several ways around this.

A. Go pick up air mines.  when you start getting shot at by hawk MG's, deploy the mines.  It has two beneficial effects.

1.The hawks MG's will now target the mines as they are closer targets then you are.

2. The dive bombing hawk will sometimes fly right into the mines as they rise towards them. This can even get you a kill now and again.  At very least it makes the hawk have to fly away and buy you some time to heal or build something.

B. You can lock onto hawks as a mech, so get some homers and swarms and lock a target, but do not fire until they come close/are about to land/ or start a dive bombing run.(Especially when you see the blue glow of the torp they usually wont break off their attack)

C. Start shooting back at the hawk who is dive bombing you, with your MG's and swarms.  As soon as your hawk starts to flame get out and the flying hawks MG lock will be lost. At this point you are standing on the mech, so are protected from most ground attacks giving you time to shoot at the hawk with any wepaons you may have.  Hopefully a MAW to finish him off.    (This technique works really great in mech vs mech battles.  Most of the time they sit there attacking your empty mech while you stand on top of it and lay into them with all manner of guns and explosives, by the time your mech explodes they usually dead or extremely close and you are still full health)

D. Lay down some mines near some random structures to they not visible form above.  Get a hawks attention by firing a MAW or rifle at them.  Act confused so they get a false sense of security.  (Such as running one way, then jump around and run the other way like you scared and dumb. This entices them to stomp as they feel you are no threat.  Lure them to land where your hidden mines are.)

Suicide sidewinder

I know you can just drive by a tank and have them hop off and not die but I prefer to wedge my SW under their tank so they can't move and kill us both :smileytongue:

The unexpected miner:

Get some mines and a hawk then go and plant the mines near some low to the ground weapons pickups or near the ones on the asteroids in space :smileyhappy:.

Re: Interesting & Efficient Tactics

My personal favorite that I did a bunch yesterday.... go to any oribtal CTF mode classic loadout get the mines.  Gain elevated position above enmy base on the landing.  Place mines above you on top of towers as enemy will try to get ground above YOU to take you out. Watch the mosquiots land and hear the"pop" and watch your name light up with a kill.

[ Edited ]

I pulled a variation of the barricade (a tactic I've used for some time), last night.  All of the auto turrets were on one side of the zone, so I threw down a turret of my own, and crouched behind it, walking back and forth, to keep from being fired on.  Worked like a charm.

Re: Interesting & Efficient Tactics

Updated. Nice to see a bunch of new interesting hawk tactics. Also, I agree much of the ground tactics revolve around mines...surprise?

Also, looking for some new killer BnB tactics.
