Codes

I am a big fan of warhawk. we bought it about 3 years ago and that has been the best game we have ever bought for under $20. The online multiplayer was great! When i heard about the starhawk beta i got it and loved it,and couldnt wait for it to come out. We pre-ordered it at gamestop and started it up.. After 30 minutes of updates i discovered that i needed to put an one use online code in. This wasnt a problem untill i wanted to put it into my other ps3 but i had to buy ps3 card just to have it online! .... I think this is going to RUIN the online game.. This game wont be worth $5 because of the stuped online cost. And why would you need to put a code for the limited edition stuff ... why cant it be built into the game? What happens to the used games.. The people will just get no online?  In all we have spent $80 on shipping and psn cards for 1 game and some worthless codes Definatly a dissapointment for a $60 game and I havent even played much of it yet.

Re: Codes

This is one of the many disadvantages of online passes... You have to look at it from a developer's point of view, though, as well: when someone sells a used game or someone buys a used game, the developers are losing potential sales

If you don't know, creating an AAA game costs millions and millions of dollars, and even many studios go bankrupt or go out of business because of the cost of developing games. Think about this: when a studio goes under, that's at least 15 people losing jobs, so they can't support their families, pay their bills, etc

To the developers and publishers, the used video game industry is borderline piracy...

Re: Codes

1. It's an online pass, they're there for the off chance you will sell your game; second hand buyers will need to pay 10$ to access online. So if you purchased new, this really isn't an inconvenience to you. In your case, you tried putting into another PS3. May I ask why? I'm a little confused as to why you wanted to pop it into another unit when one already has everything ready to go? Used games are great. I love selling my games, but I don't buy new myself. The online pass is so that developers like LBI can get a profit from a used sale, when they originally earn nothing.

2. It's limited, therefore not going to be standard in every game. It is simply logical that the contents are a bonus code. Why do we deserve a completely different disc for things that don't really need to be on a disc? We get the OST, which is a separate file. We get PSX's Warhawk, which is a separate file. The only other two things are the skins, but are 100kb a pop REALLY that inconvenient to you?

In short, you are blowing this way out of proportion. If you have two PS3s wherever you're at, simply play on the one that HAS the code installed. Simple. If that system's in an inconvenient place in your house or wherever, then move it. Simple. I don't think this needed a forum topic as there isn't much to discuss.

That was your own fault for wasting money on a separate psn card just to play a game you already have complete access to. That's not the game's fault. You need to better at problem-solving.

Re: Codes

Re: Codes

A-non-E-moose I bought it because i wanted to have frends over to play mulitplayer with them and not have to pay rediculious amounts of money ... i have 2 ps3's because i wanted to have a public one and a personal one so that i could have frends over ecc.  This does not require problem solving at all it was just a waste of my money and time.

Re: Codes

Really? You're still going at this?

My girlfriend has a PSN.

I do too.

We can play together via splitscreen. How? All she has to do is sign into her account.

I'm having a blast and I haven't had to spend a penny more for the regular retail price.

So what REALLY is the problem here? The game, or your choices?

Re: Codes

S0UTHERN_C0MF0RT dont give me that crap about them not making money off a game ... They make millions off of digital copies alone and that doesnt even cost to make and distribute. The other half is a disk full of B.S to make you put and load of money into it just to play a game that has the same graphics as warhawk did and its $10.

Re: Codes

No, you don't. All that's required is a 2nd PSN account.

I have one copy of the game. I can play splitscreen with one copy of the game.

And regarding you other point, so if I'm understanding this correctly, you used the online pass for a game you thought you were going to play publicly on the private PS3?

Re: Codes

you do know you are allowed to put the code on 2 ps3's, right? and downloads , you can download to two seperate playstations. The main account you downloaded it on has to be put on the second ps3. then you go to account management and then to download list. you redownload it from there and then both ps3's have access to the pass.

but that is your limit. you wont be able to redownload it anymore.
