Has to be the injuries. Bo jackson, Gale sayers, Joe thiesman, Dennis byrd, mike utely. Bo was on his was to being the best running back to ever touch the field. and thats saying a lot coming from me. sayers injury was at a bad time. technology wasnt what it is today(look at what happened to willis mcgahee in college.). but byrd and utely were freaking paralyzed. you cant plan for that. there are plenty of others that could fall in this category.

on #2 i think alot of players are severly over hyped. there are waaaay too many busts every year. #3 is stubborness on the athletes part. refusual to believe they cant play at the high level they are used to has got to be hard to accept.

Mark Mulder being taken out of his comeback game after just sixteen pitches.
You cannot tell whether a person is good or bad by his vicissitudes in life. Good and bad fortune are matters of fate. Good and bad actions are Man's way. Retribution of good and evil is taught simply as a moral lesson - quote from "Hagakure - the book of the Samurai"

Brett Favre, Chipper Jones, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, Mike Mussina, Dikembe Mutumbo...has to be old farts that take up cap room and/or spots for younger players.

But Chipper Jones has actually produced keeping up at .400 AVG for most of the season so far and has been named to the All-Star team.

EDIT: Another bust - Andruw Jones, how far he has fallen. Also Beltre and Sexson to some extent as they haven't been as productive since they've arrived in Seattle.
