no you don't. I'm from nyc and i been a Bulls fan forever. Jack Nicholson is from nyc and he's a die hard Lakers fan, Same goes for Billy Crystal he's a Clippers fan.

when magic was on the lakers, i was a huge lakers fan, when the orlando magic started their franchise, i became an instant fan because they were called the magic, penny\shaq era made it awesome, shaq goes to LA and backstabs orlando.... i now cannot be a lakers fan, penny gets hurt... dies.... no fan of a team now... but, once kobe retires and if dwight doesn't end up in LA, i might be able to become a lakers fan again.
however, i do follow players moreso these days. teams tend to hold players hostage and some fans get all irate when a player leaves as if they are supposed to control them. the first time i realized this was when griffey wanted to play for the reds. or when the titans kicked out steve mcnair. or more recently peyton manning saga.
