"When you see guys like **bleep** Butkus, the Ronnie Lotts, the Jack Tatums, these guys really went after people," Polamalu told reporters. "Now, they couldn't survive in this type of game. They wouldn't have enough money. They'd be paying fines all the time and they'd be suspended for a year after they do it two games in a row. It's kind of ridiculous." -Troy Polamalu, SS, Pittsburgh Steelers
I completely agree with Troy, this is getting out of hand. It's now a regular occurance to see a few $5,000 - $20,000 fines on a weekly basis. Hines Ward got one two weeks in a row. Neither play was flagged either. Does the NFL really care about player safety, or do they just care about money and want to uphold their superiority? I, personally think they are becoming slightly too power-hungry and need to take it down a notch. I wouldn't be surprised if Troy gets fined for saying this.
Link. The video is good too, Mark Schlereth completely agrees with Troy and makes some good points.
to what you can wear during the game.
I always thought that was complete BS when portis got fined for wearing those multi colored socks.
