Phillies agree to acquire Joe Blanton from the A's

Per the Bottom line on ESPN.

5-12 with an ERA of 4.96.

Not really an "upgrade" at pitching IMO

He has been good in his previous years, he should do good with a fresh start with the Marlins.

They said they were interested in him for weeks. Not Aj Burnett. I think screw them, and pay the farm for Roy Halladay. Just throw them an offer that will knock them backwards. I like blanton, I need to see what they are giving up. On a side note, my friends a few yrs back said I look just like Joe Blanton from his Yahoo pick in 05. I said I was insulted. He looks like Turtle.

All of my friends own a cardboard Box and make fun that I have a black box of love, my PS3. I cannot play w/them, so add me, and we can have the last laugh

The Athletics have officially given up on the 2008 and 2009 seasons with their most recent transactions.

Billy Beane has a great eye for signing talent yet wil the young players have developed, they're gone.

The aren't rebuilding every ten years. It's every year.

It's ridiculous. The A's fans can't buy a poster because the only stars that the A's have are traded away.

It is sad, imagine the teams they would have if they would only invest in some of this talent they breed every season....they would be monsters of the al with some of the guys ( especially the pitching )...It is truly sad to be an As fan I guess.

This is typical A's baseball. Have good talent and before they get expensive trade them away. This is their process and I feel bad for their fans because other than Chavez they really can't root for a player for fear they will be traded when they get too expensive.

Believe me when I say this....ANYTHING is better then Adam Eaton.  I am just curious to see what they do when Myers is ready  because we Have Cole ( who stays) Myers will be given a shot, Blanton who will be thrown into rotation and then we have Moyer and Kendrick...And also a young arm by the name of J.A. Happ   who the past 2 starts has gone 5.2 and i think it was 7+ innings with ER of 2 for both games...So it will be interesting to see what they do
