Bioshock Challenge Rooms: Secrets and Strategies

Hey everyone, as the new Bioshock Challenge Rooms are brand new, I thought I'd make a thread detailing and listing the various ways to achieve the goals for receiving the new trophies available with the rooms.

In my opinion, the fun in writing this is that there are no walkthrough of any of the challenge rooms on the web that I have found. Please do not read this unless you are working on the roses (genuine timesink) or have reached your wits end with the puzzles.

"The 'I' in Team" - Rescuer

Very straight forward, collect EVE and empty out every item storage box you find. You'll be needing everything to build a single Hacking Tool. Run up the stairs past the target berserk Big Daddy and into the room with the stairs and the pnumo tube, under the stairs is a door and two switches, one requires the Hacking Tool and the other can be used now. To the right of the door there is a pathway leading down, follow it down and hop on top of the frozen Big Daddy that you find to get Target Dummy. Follow the stairs back up to the switches. As you will notice, there is a row of Machine Gun turrets in front of you which you cannot proceed past, plus RPG turrets which are above you. Use Target Dummy to blow up the machine gun turrets and cross the fissure and pass through the open doorway.

In this room you will see the second berserk Big Daddy. Use Target Dummy to get the Big Daddy to step on the pressure pad to pass through the doorway in front of you with Winter Blast 3 right past it. Return to the start of the stage and use Target Dummy to move to the middle of the expansion next to the stairs and Winter Blast to keep him there. Platform over him to get to the Brass Tube which should finish your collection to build the Hacking Tool. Hack the second switch to let the target Big Daddy into the room. Use Target Dummy to have the RPG turrets kill the Big Daddy and you win.

"The 'I' in Team" – Expert

Don't stop moving when following the last procedures, only grab a few EVE syringes and it should not be a problem at all.

"The 'I' in Team" – Collector

1. The rose is located in the beginning of the stage, look above the big daddy. When you get Winter Blast & Target Dummy, position the Big Daddy underneath and use him as a footstool.

2. In the first room you come across. Right on the table, can't miss it.

3. After killing the Big Daddy, collect the Grenade Launcher and use two frag grenades to destroy the center RPG turret.  Use another grenade to pop the destroyed remains out to the lower level and collect the rose.

4. After killing the Big Daddy, return to the second beserk Big Daddy and use Target Dummy to have him step on the pressure pad. Run back to the start of the stage and the rose will be under the crate where the Brass Tube was located. It may be difficult to see, but there is going to be a red message on the wall in front of you. Look there.

"The 'I' in Team" – Pacifist

This is going to be complicated until you find the groove to avoid being shot. The trick to this is to have the Target Dummy spawn on the beam you use to travel the fissure. Spawn the Target Dummy a few seconds in front of you and as you approach the opposite end, Spawn one behind you. Repeat these steps to return in the opposite direction. Make sure to spawn the Target Dummy on the beam. If it is on the ground you will likely take too much damage and die and risk destroying a turret.

Continue to finish the level as normal and when you get to the end, make sure to aim the Target Dummy far to the sides to avoid blowing up the turrets.

Re: Bioshock Challenge Rooms: Secrets and Strategies

a little off-topic, but is there any noticable change in the visuals? I thought they were fine to begin with; however, many have claimed to see a change in 1080p.

I didn't see many visual differences between the two versions. After the last patch, the game's visuals were more stable though.

Here's more info on the subject.

On the subject, if anyone wondering how the challenge room DLC content is, it is very fun.

"A Shocking Turn of Events" - Rescuer & Master Electrician

Don't bother running outside the Bathysphere. Turn around and use the handle to shock yourself to death to respawn inside the Vita-Chamber. Grab the Shotgun, Electrical Buckshot, go outside and blast the malfunctioning door handle. There is a splicer bashing a call button. She dies and behind her is a ledge you can drop down. Do so and collect the Static Discharge Tonics. There are Invention Crates located all over the stage and it will not be difficult to find them.

From here, it is a much simpler task of simply finding six different ways to shock the control mechanism for the Ferris Wheel. They can be done in any order. Finish the last three to complete the Master Electrician trophy.

1. There is a Electric Buckshot right below the control mechanism. Blast the control mechanism with the electric shot.

2. A splicer is walking around, have him chase you to the control mechanism and let him take a whack at you. The static discharge will kill him and power the control mechanism.

3. A splicer is in the bathroom right behind the control mechanism. See #2.

4. A splicer is in the carnival market area, in the back of the area there is a locked room. The lock code is 1951 if you couldn't guess. Train her back to the control mechanism. See #2.

5. On the story with the Static Discharge Tonic, there is a body trapped underneath a slot machine. Grab the Trap Bolt. Grab the Telekinesis plasmid from the carnival market area and grab the crossbow from the safe in the room to the left of the carnival market entrance. Wrap a Trap Bolt around the safe to open it. Return to the control mechanism. Find any number of ways to angle the trap bolt and wrap the cord around the control mechanism to charge it.

6. In the carnival market area, in the back of the area. On the corpse in the balloon display, there is a Trap Bolt. See #5.

By now you have completed the Rescuer Trophy.

7.  This one is complicated. Opposite the room with the crossbow is a freezer. Using the fire in front of the freezer, melt the ice packs in the room to free up several First Aid Kits and an Electric Buckshot. Use Telekinesis to pick up the Buckshot. See #1.

8 & 9 require the U-Invent machine and a Hacking Tool to lower the costs on both. The Hacking Tool is in the freezer. There is a picture of Jack & His Parents in the freezer. Light it up and fire it down the broken tube with Telekinesis and collect the Hacking Tool after the ice melts. You will also need to grab the Chemical Thrower from behind the large teddy bears.

8. U-Invent a Trap Bolt. See #5.

9. Create an Electric Gel. Use it on the control mechanism.

Congratulations, you have completed the Master Electrician Trophy.

"A Shocking Turn of Events" – Expert

I listed 1-6 in order of the easiest/quickest to achieve.

Avoiding backtracking is imperitive to accomplishing the goal.  From the start, grab the Static Discharge Tonic and Trap Bolt on the crushed body. Complete #1, then #2, then #3, on your way to #4, grab the crossbow and the Trap Bolt from the corpse on the balloon display and unlock the door, training the splicer to the control mechanism, then complete #5 and #6.

"A Shocking Turn of Events" – Collector

1. This one can only be done after the first splicer dies short circuiting the elevator control pad. As the elevator is coming up, hop on the roof and ride it to its end. A rose is right in the tube.

2. On the floor with the Static Discharge Tonic, carefully enter the empty elevator shaft and jump. In the duct, there is a corpse with the Rose on it.

3. In the balloon game in the carnival market area, destroy the lowest balloon to uncover the rose.

4. In the barrel toss game in the carnival market area, look in the rightmost barrel to find the rose.

5.  In the locked room in the carnival market area, jump on top of the lockers against the wall to get to the rose in the ceiling fixture.

6. In the central area, in the doorway with the albums in the window displays. Inside is a rose right past the bars.

7. After completing your seventh electrical shock, the ferris wheel will have a mechanical failure and a gear head will burst off the motor. Inside the center of the gear is the rose.

8. In the Mens restrooms, on top of the Pick Your Plasma poster.

9. Inside the freezer, in the top portion of the broken pipe.

10. Inside a little sister vent, right before you enter the carnival market area.

Thanks to TheNukes for the final three roses.

Re: Bioshock Challenge Rooms: Secrets and Strategies

I'm missing one Alcohol for  Shocking events, so I can make the electric gel and get the master electrician trophy, I've found one but cant find another one, it's the last one I need, anyone know where it is, I've looked everywhere, but still can't find it.

EDIT: Nevermind, how blind could I be? I forgot to open a box...lol.

Re: Bioshock Challenge Rooms: Secrets and Strategies

Worlds of Hurt is not fun. It's strictly a combat challenge. The tough guy challenge goes from difficult after researching every enemy and speccing for pure wrench damage & plasmid combat to impossible in the All Kinds Of Big Daddy round. The only way to win is enrage. It should be your first purchase.

Do not purchase hacking tonics. You will be rolling in money all the time and it's important to keep your ADAM allocated to making yourself into a punishment machine.

Remember to save after every single challenge. If you don't think dealing with a group of Leadhead Splicers is hard, just remember there is nowhere to run.

lol. I found it fun right up until the Multiple Big Daddy room and after an hour and a half, I still can't take down the Rosie. I used enrage to have the other 3 take some damage off, but they barely touch it. Then I just try to incinerate & elctrobolt it and hit it with the wrench, but I never last long enough. Did you use Armored Shell? I'm using Damage Research/Jockey 1/Jockey 2/Photographer's Eye 2.

This deserves a gold trophy. Never had this much trouble anywhere in Survivor w/o vita mode...

Part of the trick is to try and pile on as many big daddies in the enrage pile as possible. Grab Insect Swarm 3, it actually stacks when it is casted repeatedly.
