Clue Me In...

My friends and I lately have been craving some Socom and I convinced about 5 of them to go get Confrontation since its only $3.99, but before we all waste our time on there (and because I wont have my ps3 back until the end of this month), I need to know a couple of things.....preferably from level-headed, non-whiney players who play the game on a semi regular basis

1.) About how many LEGIT players still play this game daily? And by legit, I mean people who dont cheat, TK, or vote people they dont know.

2.) Is the cheating/glitching as frequent as people make it out to be here on the forums? I know people use forums mostly to complain, but I just wanted to be sure my friends and I could get into games regularly without spending a half hour looking for cheater-free games.

3.) Is the DLC a must-get? Would there be less cheaters in those games? (Cheaters and glitchers typically dont spend money on DLC)

I know its an older game and it has its critics, but to me, this was the last TRUE Socom I ever got to play. The new one just doesnt have that feel, and despite its issues, Confrontation always felt solid to me.

Re: Clue Me In...

Obvious cheaters are rare but it's so easy today to manipulate games so you still get an advantage but no can decisively declare you a cheater, you pretty much have to rely on peoples reputation and intuition to tell the difference between lag, luck and BS. Lag is the easiest to fake but there are also save files floating around that modify a weapons stats. Full blown lag switching is rare since the PSN is much more likely to boot you but the other blatant forms of cheating are freezing a match up, armor stacking(colorful camo or patterns not shipped with the game), and a "god mode" which is not really common anymore.

I really don't see much voting people out to make room anymore but I also usually play later at night when fewer people are on.

I'm not sure if there is any less cheating or not in the DLC rooms but it's defiantly worth it just for the maps and the extra weapons it adds...unless of course you are the type to never stray from the point and spray scrub guns which are included in the base game and many people don't like the DLC rooms because the maps are considerably more sniper friendly than the original 7. The non-DLC rooms are always going to be more populated for this reason.
