sounds like a clever play on words to me. When i read this the first thing that came to my mind was they are probably only doing this to get socom fans to buy a ps4 without knowing if socom would be on it or not. These business's are smart they know what they are doing.

I doubt that strategy will work this time around.

With the PS3, there was still hope.  S3/CA left a bad taste in some fans mouths, but not enough for them to give up on the series entirely.  Confrontation, while buggy, was a step in the right direction.  Unfortunately, the dev team spent so much time trying to fix the game, dlc got put on the backburner and I'm sure we only got a fraction of the add-ons there were initially planned.

With S4 though, they pretty much went and made a new game, removing things fans wanted and putting things in fans didn't want.  S4 was the ultimate slap in the face to SOCOM fans, and left an already fragile community in shambles.  The in-fighting is at an all-time high, with S2 and S4 fans at each other's throats all the time, and the S3/CA/Con fans somewhere in the middle.

As such, I don't think there is a single segment of the community that has any hope left.  The servers for 1/2/3/CA will be off-line shortly, fueling even more hatred from that part.  Confrontation players are stuck with coders and "script kiddies" with no hope of getting it fixed, and S4 players are stuck with a game that wasn't even fully supported for a year before Sony pulled the plug on the dev.

Bottom line, the SOCOM community as a whole (regardless of which game they prefer) hates Sony, and I doubt very few are holding on to hope that all wrongs will be righted with the PS4.

Re: Still Some SOCOM Hope

Hmm I wouldn't say it adds any hope to the situation just defuses some of the doomsaying, at the very least someone from sony acknowledged the franchise and more importantly it was the actual socom games opposed to the MAG ports.

Re: Still Some SOCOM Hope

I think this is actually very good news, the dude even notes how s1/s2 are still being played. Don't think our franchise is over yet might get one last round of socom

Well shame on people who buy a system for one game not knowing if said game will ever exist.  If my only motivation to buy a PS4 was Socom  I wouldn't buy one until the game was announced and at the very least saw some footage.  I would say it's not the buisness that is SO smart as it is the consumer being such an idiot.
