So, I was wondering what your favorite RPG's are. My favorite so far would be Dragon's Dogma. I don't really have a top 3, but do like Skyrim, Dragon Age Origins and Kingdoms of Amalur Reckoning. I haven't played many rpg's this gen though.
I don’t think I have a favorite PlayStation role-playing game for this generation (at least not yet). I kind of hope that it will be Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch but it might end up being The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim or even a role-playing game that isn’t available for a PlayStation console.
I haven't actually played a huge ammount of RPG's from this generation now that I think about it.
Eternal Sonata though would definitely be one of my favorites. As Sweet Poison said though, and I share her sentiment, I'm hoping Ni No Kuni will be one of my favotite RPG's.
I have to say also actually that I really enjoyed the story in Tales of Graces. They did things not often seen (at least I haven't) within the RPG story tropes involving the villains. So while a lot of it was story cliche's, I found it told the story well and offered more subtely and depth to those cliches that made it stand out for me. The story could be taken on a few levels and was quite wellt told, and what I loved, which is often what gives so much strenght to studio Ghibli movies, is the heroes and villains weren't black or white. There was gray and subtely and depth to them which was all quite interesting. Often in RPG's the characters are all black and white with nothing in between making them characatures in a sense. More of a stand in than a developed or thought out character. Tales of Graces had characters and villains that went beyond that and was far more interesting. So for story and character development I'd say Tales of Graces is maybe one of my favorites.
Fallout 3. In my opinion, it is the best game of this gen. There isn't really much I can say about it. I love it and am currently playing it again. I never really thought I would like western RPGs until I tried it, but it has really changed my tune.
There has not been a supply of RPGs in this generation comparable to the others, or so it would seem. From what's been played though, Eternal Sonata stays intact as my number one. There have been other welcomed RPGs through the times too, whether it was Star Ocean: The Last Hope International's episodic saga or even the quirkiness of Costume Quest as a favorable downloadable.
I agree with the OP
