Those who have been praying for a Resident Evil 2 remake may just get their wish, as Capcom has expressed interest in doing as much should fans make their voices heard.
Speaking with GameSpot, Capcom’s Yoshiaki Hirabayashi explained the studio’s willingness to remake the beloved horror classic, putting the ball in the court of fans.
If the fans really clamor for it; if there’s a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that’s something Capcom would take under consideration.
Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there’s no rumour-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now.

While outstanding, the remake of the first Resident Evil is something that we probably didn't need. I know everyone is in love with Resident Evil 2, but if you've played the game already do you really need to play through it again with delicious HD visuals and maybe some remixed sounds? It's another $40-$60 to spend, another 20-40 hours time to play. Do we really need more of the same or is the new and unfamiliar looking like a possibility?

I would be happy if they remake it and keep everything the same (except graphics). Fixed cameras, no co-op.

As someone who never got to play RE2 when it came out, I would love to see a remake of it.

Resident Evil Remake was 70% different from the original though. Released 6 years later. If Resident Evil 2 Remake is coming next year, it would be 15 years later of computer technology since 1998! So the difference would be clearly noticed.
I really hope Capcom will do this for us. Let's make it happen people!
