My console has crashed one to many times due to Red Dead and is now permanently damaged (reformatting no longer fixes the PS3's inability to read discs after a crash). Awesome.

There's something really wrong with this game, my original 60 GB got YLOD after 10 minutes playing the game...I didn't blame it direclty on the game as it had to happen while playing a game as that's what I do with the PS3

But then another buddy from my site that also has a 60 gigger and also never had any issues with it got YLOD!

The game demands a certain FW to work which means they use something in the SW right?....it wouldn't surprise me that launch PS3 are affected by som bug as this wouldn't be the 1st time

But how to prove this?? I got a SLIM then next day but I would be really "sad" if I find out that it's actually the game doing something wrong...we'll never know, they'll patch soon probably and those affected?...well, bad luck

I am having the same problem but im also getting wierd flashing during game play. i have gen1 60gb never had any problems It has to be the game

Some of us have seen the flashing and video tearing, too. I have a gen 1 60GB, also.

Red Dead killed my launch 60.

It's something that will continue to happen until they release a patch, so for now I just suggest everybody that has freezing problems stop playing Red Dead cause as stated above this could damage your PS3 so just my little advice.

I too got these freezing issues.

40GB, HDMI.

For now, it happened once in Free Roam mode, but it mostly happens during the same mission, "Wild Horse Tamed Passions". I can play the first half of this mission without a problem but when Bonny and I are riding and meet the other dudes near Armadillo, the game/console always freezes in the curve about 2 secondes after meeting the dudes.

Tried this missions about 5 times, always the same freezing problem at the same place except for one time where I was able to get past this point but about 30 secondes later, I fell through the ground. I was stuck and when I pressed START, all I got was the red page with no menu option. Had to reboot the PS3.
