The RYNO kills him pretty easily. You weaken him with other weapons like the Devastator until you get to the last platform with the grind rails. You can just keep circling him and grinding in the opposite direction and the RYNO will lock onto Drek. It kills him in short order. You just have to keep mashing that big reset button or he blows up the planet.
The ONLY downside to the RYNO is you can't find free ammo in the boxes because the galactic authorities banned the RYNO. So you have to buy all your own ammo.
There are some tricks for quickly generating the 150,000 bolts you need to buy the RYNO. It's on Rilgar, in case you forgot.

If you have your Hologuise and your Taunter then you are ready to get them bolts.
You go back to Black Water City and go to the board race. Before you enter, turn into your robot. Then enter and the other racers will disappear. Then you go to the large ramp and stand under the platform with all the boxes. Then you need to get your Taunter out and hold CIRCLE down. You will get all the bolts you could want or put up with. You can only use it once

I'll give you a walkthrough.
Step 1:
Go to planet Rilgar, and go in front of the race woman. Equip hologuise, and enter the race. You will now be Ratchet again and you can walk around the track. Go to the part where there are ALL those bolt crates stacked up, stand right underneath them, equip the Taunter, and keep the O button held down. Put some tape on it, and then come back in 1 or 2 hours. When you come back you'll find the taunter still going, and your bolt count going off the charts. Take off the tape, and jump into the water. You die. You respawn in front of the race woman with your bolt number intact. Now for Step 2...
Step 2:
Go to the RYNO salesman and purchase the RYNO. Go to Planet Veldin and go fight Drek. After the Clank battle, whip out the RYNO and start pelting him with RYNO missles. After a 3rd or so of his health has been depleted, he will destroy the platform. Start using the hypershot on the targets and get to the second platform. Repeat. He will destroy the second platform and create little steps to the final platform. On the final platform, after the cutscene, there will be a timer. Ignore it, and start pelting him with RYNO missles. If you're quick about it, youu will have defeated Drek and the ending cutscene will play. HOORAY!!!
