Just recently, I picked up an October issue of PSM (Issue 89). It had a lot of neat footage and tons of multiplayer action. The length of all six videos was 8:00, ranging from 35 seconds to 2:06 each.
,Videoclip #1: Length 2:06
,Ratchet sky dives down to a battlefield below where he fends off incoming enemies along with the four Galactic Rangers. The Galactic Rangers have an extremely robotic voice and alert you of things going on. There are some Tyhrranoids V.1 that remind me of the hounds on Planet Barlow --- they "bark" as they try to attack you by biting. The bouncing mines released from the Annihilator sound exactly like the Heavy Bouncer, and the Heavy Bouncer, yes it's back, sounds like dimes being dropped. The Lava Gun icon in Ratchet's Quick Select menu doesn't say "Lava Gun"; it instead says "Paradox ERR". The weapon itself is the spittin' image of the Lava Gun, effects and all. 350 ammo.
,,
Videoclip #2: Length: 54 seconds.
,This is an online battle that involves lots of action on a Blue team's magnetic tower. Red team easily takes the nod from their control. No new weapons or weapon icons in this clip.
,,
Videoclip #3: Length 35 seconds.
,Ratchet starts off in an enclosed building with Plasma Whip in hand. I noticed that when you swing it, the end gets right up in front to the camera. One of the attacks from the Ninja-bots involve a laser being shot from their "light-sabers". They do not loose one end when they fire, unlike in the Secret Agent Clank video. When defeated, they explode with an electrifying shock. New ammo containers! They're a light blue (not dark like the Megacorp ones) with a "G" for Gadgetron on them. Personally, I like the looks of these a lot better. There's also a new weapon icon, reminiscent to that of a hazard or toxic symbol. The Mini-turret Gun makes an appearance with it's rapid fire attacks, as well.
,,
Videoclip #4: Length 1:11
,This is a mission involving the Hovership and the Galactic Rangers. From what was shown, you had to defeat enemies from all angles while in your Hovership. Some pretty interesting action, too.
,,
Videoclip #5: Length 1:31
,It's a "vid-comic", and you get to see a lot of Captain Qwark's moves. He's got a loping gait and he does the splits when shooting upwards. You can wall-jump to get to higher places or to collect tokens. From what was shown in the clip, there's two different types. One is red and is worth 10, the other being blue and worth 1. There were two types on enemies, rocket-launcher wielding enemies and bomb-dropping helicopters. Lots of obstacles for you to avoid --- rolling barrels, gaps, fire, etc. These "vid-comics" are looking great, and I can't wait to finally get to play one.
,,
Videoclip #6: Length: 1:34
,A four player split-screen battle. Lots, and lots, and lots, and lots of action. Several answers to a few mystery icons were revealed as well. We now know that:
,
= Gravity Bomb
= Minirocket Tube
= Mine Glove
,
Overall, I would have to say that if anyone is interested in how UYA is coming along, you'd have to get this issue. It's got some amazing footage and a lot of interesting environments shown. You can pick this magazine up at any of your major local gaming/mag stores. PSM issue 89, October 2004. Check it out!
