My School Project...Chevy Small Block...

16 replies 6 views Edited Jan 10, 2007
i worked on this engine today. Removed entire ignition system, and put it back together. Also did the timing. I did this by myself and in about an hour or so. It wasnt working before because the kid before me was an idiot and messed up the firing order. When i was done it came to life on the first crank. Teacher said its been about 4 years since he has last seen that happen.

this engine comes from a 1979 Malibu. Its a 5.0 litre 305CID

Nice going, gip!

Was the timing messed up because the spark plug wires were in the wrong order?

nope, it was because the distributer wasn't in the correct angle... When he tried to turn it on yesterday it backfired so loudly the next shop over came over to see what had happened
