I knew the ads made the load times longer! and it's not by just a little bit, it's by over 10 seconds.

I agree 100%. If the Devs need extra $, that's fine. I can understand that. But, Incorporating ads in and having it effect the performance of the game is inexcusable
The thing is, I ALREADY gave them $20 for the game, and another $10 for the Fury add-on. This issue better be addressed.

I already gave my money by buying this game and expansion. This game was not free.
In that context, secretly adding advertisements with a patch is unacceptable. As much as I love this game, this is going too far.
I am seriously thinking about deleting Wipeout from my hard drive and requesting a refund.

Neither are movies in theatres or cable tv, and both those have ads (trailers and commercials). The ad may be annoying, but justifying not having it because you bought the game is stupid. Good luck with your refund, it's not gonna happen. At this point you've played the game and presumably had it for a while, why should they give you your money back?

So if I understand you correctly, you are ok with that kind of ad placement in video games? You wouldn't mind playing more games that use the same kind of strategy?

I'd be lying if I said it didn't irk me, but honestly, I'm still playing games, and so I really don't care. As long as the game is still good and fun, whatever, let the company make more money. I'll be honest, I haven't played fury since the first few days it was out, so I haven't experienced the ad, and when I eventually play again and see it, I will probably say something like "COME ON! I JUST WANT TO PLAY" but whatever, it's not like the ads are being placed and something else is being sacrificed.
Like right now, I've been playing DiRT a lot. If the loading screen was a car commercial instead of a list of stats and a few seconds longer, I wouldn't care. I'd just watch the ad or ignore it and play when I get to play, it's not worth boycotting sony over. Maybe an email to say hey, these ads are annoying, but even that is just more time spent focusing on the stupid ads rather than playing the game.
