First, I am new to the PS. I have a PS3 with stock controllers and the Driver SF game. I'm having a lot of trouble trying to steer the cars with the controller. The joystick has no proportionallity to the steering - either hard left or right. As much as I feather it, the steering is jerky - impossible to hold a lane or corner under control. Is there a better controller I should look at other than the one Sony provides? Any other tips maybe I'm not getting?

to be honest, that's how i felt when i first played the demo. there was no sense of coordination whatsoever. however i bought the game a few months ago and it is actually one of the funnest racing games i have ever played. now to your question, it's just gunna take practice. every car handles differently and you'll notice that, but just keep on practicing and trying to master one car at least and you'll be amazing in no time. you'll be able to rip lambo's around corners with ease.

It isn't your controller. The game is designed to be really arcady. I got a platinum in Driver and although the controls may seem a bit annoying at first stay with it because once you get used to controls you will love every second of it as this game is really fun. A lot of people did not give it a chance and that is a pity. I personally think this is one of the most underrated racing games in the last 3 years!
As for the controller there is nothing I can tell you. If you are not used to the PlayStatation controller the only thing I can recommend is to practice as it is a very good controller. Impossible to recommend any other 3rd party controller over the official Sony one.
