As demonstrated by the lack of responses, your problem is not a common one. It certainly did not happen on my Vita. That suggests that the update is not the problem, as the issue appears to be specific to your console. The fact that you noticed it after installing the update could be nothing more than a coincidence. Did you try removing and re-seating the memory card? Did you try backing up the console, and restoring the PS Vita System?

I can't recall if you said you tried to format it it yet, if you have you no then you can try that.
