I just got a new PS3 and it came with a 30 day PlayStation Plus voucher code that I used. It makes it very clear that at the end of the trial it will charge me for a 3 month subscription. I want it to go to the full year instead. Is that possible to do easily or will I have to cancel the trial before it ends and just buy a full year?

The safest way is to buy the one year subscription before the trial ends.  You don' t have to wait until the trial ends to buy the full year subscription, or cancel the trial first. PS Plus subscriptions generally stack if you buy one when you already have one; but in the case of the free trial, your one year subscription will start on the day that you purchase it; instead of the day after the free trial ends.  There will be no automatic purchase of a 3 month subscription in that case. Once you have a one year subscription, it will automatically renew for another year when it ends, unless you cancel it.
