problems with online play

11 replies 90 views Edited Sep 8, 2010

about two weeks ago I began experiencing a lot of lag spike in my online games

I usually play MW2 and thats where its most noticeable, with the game stuttering for a second then going back to normal. I tested other games to make sure it wasn't only MW2 and it happens there as well. My nat type is 2 and when I play MW2 it says Open.

recent speed test

Your internet speed is fine. You have to remember, though, that you are playing with other people, who may not have as fast an internet speed as you do. That is most likely where your lag is coming from, other players.

so the sudden second freezes and spikes in online play are normal? I was going to give comcast a call but I bet best they'd do is just send a technician over to waste my time

Try power cycling both your router and modem. Unplug both your modem and router. Wait a couple of minutes and plug your router in first. After it normalizes, plug in your modem. Btw while those are great dl and ul speeds your ping sucks. That might actually be the reason that you are encountering problems.

Try it out. Most issues can be resolved just by doing those steps. Actually if you call this is probably the first thing that they are going to have you do.

looks like the problem continues, the games framerate drops down a lot, it will stutter for like a second or two which gets annoying as well and I get a lot of load in from textures in game

Ill just call comcast tomorrow see what happens
