With the PS3 there is only NAT 1, 2, and 3.

NAT 1 essentially means there is no firewall or blocked ports between your PS3 and PSN Servers.

NAT 2 means you are behind a firewall, and some ports are blocked, but the important ones are open to allow you to access/use PSN features.

NAT 3 means you are behind a firewall, and enough ports are blocked that you may not be able to use several features of the PSN.

Ok, then how do I get from NAT 2 to NAT 1 on a Linksys WRT54G ver. 6 router?

you want to go from 2 to 1? from what i understand, for optimal use of your PS3, Nat Type 2 is the way to go.

"The Difference Between Vengeance and Redemption is That You Usually Have to Die After the Latter. You Pay a Heavier Price for Vengeance in the Long Run Though...and the Extra Weight that's Lifted off Your Shoulders, not to mention your Soul, that Redemption Provides Might Just be Enough to Sway You."

NAT 1 is best, and is usually when you are connected directly to a modem with no firewall.

NAT 2 is typically best you can get with a router/firewall.

NAT 2 is good enough, though.

OP: If you aren't getting NAT2 then you want to open ports, and you can keep this stuff in your other thread since there's already much discussion on the subect there.

Interesting.............I think I'm on NAT 3.  I'm going to change that to NAT 2.  Thanks for the info!

You can't Nat 2 means you are behind a router and Nat 1 means you are direct. Nat 3 means you are behind a router and with restrictions such as certain ports are blocked. Have a great day Cya

Nat2----Nat1
bin the router. Connect direct to modem

That's normaly easy for cable users as the modem is separate from the router. On ADSL you normally can't as the Modem and router are one single unit.
