PSN ID Question

I know that there is no way to change a PSN ID name, but I figured maybe there is a way around it? The problem I have with mine is that it is one of my real life names (I wasn't thinking when I made it). I'm wondering if there is anyway I could create a new PSN ID, but keep the trophies and things that I've downloaded. I don't feel like deleting my PSN account to realize that I've lost everything that I downloaded. I tried doing stuff on the console but it wouldn't let me, so I've come here for possible advice. I'm just looking to get a new ID name that doesn't contain one of my birth names, I have no problem readding my friends my info or anything, I just want to keep my trophies and DL'd stuff (I've bought a decent amount of stuff off of the store so I really wouldn't like it to be lost).

But yeah.. Probably a pointless topic but I figured that if I can't get help here, I'm in the same boat as I'm in already. Thanks for reading.

Re: PSN ID Question

I'm totally in the same boat as you. I think if you register your PSN ID to your PS3 and then delete the User it's registered to you will still keep your downloads and such, just not trophies.

Re: PSN ID Question

No, trophies and purchases are linked to PlayStation IDs. If you make a new PlayStation ID, then you're starting from scratch. You can continue to use your purchases on the old PlayStation ID, but if you delete that user profile from your PS3, then you lose access to that content.

Usually real names in usernames aren't very obvious to other people, unless you made your PSN ID something like "Melissa" or "Bertrand".

Just create a new subaccount with whatever nickname you want.  Keep your current account as the master account and leave it on your PS3 and you won't lose access to any of your purchases.  You can even continue to purchase items under that account.

Yes you will lose your trophies.  Just decide which is more important, a new nickname or the trophies that you've earned.

By the way, trophies are nice and all, and I like trying for them too, but they are worth nothing.
