Hello, This is my first post and the reason im posting this is because ive surfing the web for answer to my problem which i will explain below and all the solutions I've found don't work (for me atleast).
Here we go... My house doesn't recieve broadband so I have an O2 Dongle for my laptop (Vista), for about 2 years i did'nt attempt to connect my ps3 since i did'nt think it would be possible without a wireless router. Just today, i came across the idea that you could use a crossover ethernet cable to connect your ps3 to the laptop. I tried this but got no where,
First, I wasn't able to automatically obtain my IP address so I had to find it and enter it manually, I did this by using the Run app, typing cmd and then typing ipconfig /all.
Now, when I test my connection, these are my results:
Obtain IP Address: Succeeded
Internet Connection: Failed
An error occured during communication with this server, this is a DNS error.(80710102) |
Im don't have a clue what to do now, I've set my Internet connection to shared networks and I have also tried numerous DNS sequences including my own. I don't know whats wrong or what im doing wrong
Any Help would really really be appreciated.
Extra Info: These are my internet connection settings
Method = Custom < Connection Method = Wired Connection < operation mode of network device = Autodetect < IP Address Settings = Manual (Correct IP, Mask DNS etc...) < MTU = Automatic < Proxy Server = Do Not Use < UPnP = Enable
Why isn't Broadband available to you, also is the O2 dongle providing only a 3G Network, if so I think you're going to struggle big time?, last question, how are you surfing the www to send this message?
Your only real answer is get a wireless router & get your own ISP account set up.
