Well, you'll know if this doesn't work:
 
1.  Go to Windows Media Player 11 (must be 11)
 
2.  under "library" click "media sharing."
 
3.  First you have to allow media sharing, then you must check if it even finds the PS3.  (it should mark it as an unkown device)
 
4.  If you're PS3 can't access it after this step then you must change something about your firewall settings
 
5.  If you're PS3 is not connecting make sure all the required ports are open.
 
Ports:
 

1900  UDP local subnet only

2869  TCP  local subnet only

10243  TCP  local subnet only

10280-10284  UDP  local subnet only

 
6.  If you're still having problems the best I can say is to remove your firewall just to make sure that it's not something else.
 
And just to clarify I didn't even check if my PS3 was DLNA enabled before I was able to do this.  No downloads or anything seem to be required.
