How about you think a little more about the PSN ID you choose in the first place before clicking the 'yes' button to accept it!

Simple.

  1. Sony always had good business reasons for not letting you change your PSN screen name, and $2 from you won't make those reasons significantly less compelling.
  2. PSN is designed under the assumption that screen names not only never change, but are never deleted.  It would be virtually impossible to change either policy at this point without breaking a lot of the PSN software. Therefore, it isn't going to happen.

If you take your time and create a game tag, one that you like before starting the account process, then creating a new tag is a mute point. I think most people are so quick to just start creating a new account, that  when they get to psn id part they can't think of anything so they make up a random name. It's not a race there is no clock ticking take your time then create a game tag you will like.
