Site Maintenance Notice The server is currently down for maintenance.

26 replies 4161 views Edited Jul 22, 2011

I tried to add a sub-account today and received the customary email with the link for activation instructions. But when I use the link, which begins with "https://store.playstation.com/, I see a gray page with some simple graphics and the message "Site Maintenance Notice The server is currently down for maintenance." Does this problem typically occur for short periods of time? Has the site recently been unavailable for everyone? Is this a transitory problem, or has it existed for a while? Thanks.

Welcome to the PlayStation Community!

Scheduled maintenance took place earlier today and affected several services, including sign-in. Everything should be working now.

Thanks. Not working for me, I still get the same response as before. Even tried different browsers not yet having accessed the address. You mean you can successfully connect to

https://store.playstation.com/accounts/register/parentConsent.action?platform=pc

Try again tommarow. Some services may not be fully restored.

Yeah I sent my PS3 to Sony so I wanted to access a account to get some games and figured I might as well use that PSN card I had laying around.

The problem still exists. I've not received any other error message when trying to complete my request either in the PS3 interface or in a web browser on my PC. I haven't attempted to add any funds, only to request a sub-account.

This site:

https://store.playstation.com/accounts/register/parentConsent.action?platform=pc

isn't accessible. The error message displayed when I try to access that address is quoted in this question's topic. Can anyone access that URL? Has anyone been furnished a URL similar to that for completing a sub-account creation request recently? I'm trying to determine whether this is a problem that may be receiving attention by the administrators of the host to which the URL points or whether mine is a problem that is unusual and doesn't affect very many people. I'm also wondering whether the problem might be the result of an incorrectly constructed message that was automatically generated when I submitted my request to join the PSN by creating a new account attached to an existing master account. My understanding is that I need that kind of account (my understanding is that it's referred to as a sub-account) in order to place parental restrictions upon network access available throught the local account used by my child (as opposed to the full access of a master PSN account which I have for myself, although I don't participate in the use of the PS3 other than to facilitate and supervise my child's use). I have posted another message in this forum in which I've explained that I was required to furnish billing information (a major credit card number) in order to reach the step that resulted in the generation of the email address that contained instructions to use the URL included above. Thanks.

every time i've tried to access the page to add funds to my son's account (like i used to all the time prior to "the incident") since "the incident" i've gotten the "under maintenance" page.  every time.  including right now.  the page has never been active since then for me.  months.

anyone can reproduce it:  at the banner on the top of the website after you log in, under your user name, select "Account Settings".  on the resulting page, select the red "Manage Account" button.  you will be redirect to

https://store.playstation.com/accounts/manage/cam_index.vm which will have the "under maintenance" message.

this is -extremely- inconvenient as the only way to add funds to the account is to go log into the unit itself.  not easy to do when i'm not in the same house...
