How is your PS3 connected to the router? Wired or wireless?

What model of router do you have? You can check the model and version numbers from the sticker underneath the unit.

That's a sign that either your wireless signal was weak before, or your router is buggy. The PS3 can work with both wireless b and wireless g networks. Check for firmware updates for your wireless router. You can also try a different wireless channel.

Re: PlayStation 3 Networking and Connection Quality FAQ

Feb 2, 2012

Hi everyone.

Can someone help with wireless setup? I just change from DSL to cable internet. My problem is the it takes to long to download games from PSN.  My internet speed is 15Mbps. Just to download a 50M video it takes 30 Minutes that is to long. I have a Linksys E1200 router with update 1.0.00 on it. The network mode is on mixed, the channel width is 20MHZ only, and Chanel is on auto.  The wireless serurity is on WPA2 personal, For internet security is on Filter Anonymous Internet Requests, and Filter IDENT (Port 113).  When I do the  internet testing on the Playstation 3. I get the IP and the Internet connection susseful, but the Playstation Network failed.

Can someone me please,

Thanks.

Please update your router firmware first; the update is in the download section. The latest version is 1.0.02.

Re: PlayStation 3 Networking and Connection Quality FAQ

Feb 4, 2012

Hi.

I finally updated my router from 1.0.00 to 1.0.02. Fortunately the problem still there, I tried downloading a 31MB Battlefield 3 video.  It took 15 minutes or more just to finish the process.  I tried internet speed test on my laptop since the update and again it giving me 15Mbps.  I was thinking should I do port forwarding to fix the problem?  Any other advice anyone  can give me  to fix this problem?

Thanks again.

Are you able to test with a wired connection to your PS3 from your router?

If not, then try changing the wireless channel between 1, 6 or 11. See which one gives you the fastest connection.
