PSN cards not working.

5 replies 290 views Edited May 12, 2012

So I bought a PSN card (20$) and I saw them activate it. When I try to redeem it, it loads for quite a while and then it says "This server is currently going under maintenance." The thing is, is that I had ANOTHER PSN card I had, which was from a different store, and it strangely worked...

I decided to throw the "broken" PSN card away after many tries and decided to buy another one. Once I tried to redeem the new one it said "This server is currently going under maintenance." once again. Is PSN really in maintenance? Is the location where I buy it from important? What should I do?

Welcome to the PlayStation Community.

Where you buy your SEN (PSN) cards from should make no difference at all, also the system is not currently undergoing maintenance.

I'm surprised you threw the 'broken" card away, i would have used the card/receipt & contacted Sony to see if they could help you in some way.

A number of people have had similar issues, they generally get them sorted after some too-ing & fro-ing.

What if you lose the receipt? is there any chance to actually activate the card

I'm having the same problem except when I type the code, it says it has $20.00 and it asks me if I want to transfer the funds to my wallet. I click "yes" then it says "Funds cannot be transferred to your wallet"

If you lose the receipt you have no way of proving ownership.

Have you tried adding the funds through the Qriocity website instead of directly on the PS3?

yes, it would show me how much I have in my wallet + the funds in the card = total, i click "yes"

then it said "The Prepaid Card code you entered is incorrect or is no longer valid"

if it makes a difference, I bought it April 14 which is a month from today to pre-order the MW3 DLC, i bought 2 instead and saved this one for future use..I didn't expect this card to actually fail so I threw the receipt. sad D=

I think it's worth calling Sony CS to see if they can offer any assistance, I'm not sure what else to suggest, sorry.
