I'm having the same problem too. I got up this morning and started playing COD and in the middle of a game it said the server timed out, then it kicked me from the PSN and said that it couldn't obtain my IP address. However, last night I was on COD with no problems. I've never had an issue before this.

Hey i had this same problem seemed like there was no solution, but then i rsorted to youtube. I found a vid on how to create a static IP followed it and now all seems to be working fine
I had the same thing bro, I feel you. I couldn't succeed the ip address. I looked at my internet connection and status list. The ip address was like-169.xxx.xxx or something like that. I felt hopeless, I told my parents about it and everything, they called our cable company and fixed our wireless router. It was the router that couldn't give ip addresses to my ps3 to access the internet. Tell them to only provide one internet SSID connection, because our old one has two. Tell them to reset it, then make sure the ps3 goes on after you rested the router for minimum of ten seconds. You may have to restore ps3 to default settings.
Use custom setup when changing your connection settings. Do not use proxy server, set the DNS server to custom and type 22.214.171.124 as primary and secondary should be 126.96.36.199 or try to put in dns's that you would to fix dns errors. Then set everything else to automatic, disable media server connection and enable UPnP and set everything else do not use. And it should work. It worked for me, but it's not a for sure thing it'll work for you.
I had the problem of my sony network disconnecting and the playstation not being able to find the IP address each time I logged onto net flix. I called sony, I called the cable company and each trouble shot. I followed each suggestion I found on this and other threads. The same thing happened each time. I finally did two other things. I moved my playstation away from the television and closer to the modem even though they all told me it was fine where it was. And I did something I should have done to begin with. I have the subscription to Netflix that only allows two systems to be logged onto Netflix at one time. So I turned off the Netflix in one of my rooms and turned off the WII. Now I am not longer having the problem of being kicked off of Sony network and am watching my Netflix on my sony with no problem. I guess the problem is really being logged onto too many systems with Netflix which may kick Sony off to keep you from loggin on with systems over your allowance on your Netflix plan
did this really work? You see I bought a new Belkin Router just the other day everything connects to the router just fine except the ps3 I also have a 360 and that connected with no issue. If I have to go through all this just to get it to work....thats kinda pathetic....just saying but do you think this will fix my problem cause there isn't anyway in hell that I could move my ps3 or router closer to each other.
