I have never had a problem with playing Black Ops 2 until yesterday. PLAYSTATION is signing me out in the middle of my matches online and then I have been put on probation by the Black Ops servers... WHY is PLAYSTATION signing me out??

You may not have set up your router?  I don't have the steps for that.  Perhaps I could do that and update the information on a reserved slot.

I believe that day was  a bit awkward for us online.  I was even kicked offline a couple times.  How is it working now?

Facing the same issue since yesterday to download Tomb Raider, I´ve download the file 5 times now and the error persists. Everything is disable on my router and I´ve already downloaded Vita games like LBP and FFVIII without any issue.

Does anybody know about what is really happening?

Found a resolution from Sony Support Center that worked for me:

1) Enter the safe mode of PS3 - turn off the system and hold power button until you hear 2 bips, after that enter Safe Mode and select option 4 to rebuild the DB

2) Under router options includ the follow port to the exception list for PS3 system: TCP (80, 443, 465, 983, 5223 and 10070-10080) and UDP (3478, 3479, 3658 and 10070)

After that I downloaded the file again over WiFi and it worked.

     Hello Community,

First I'd try to simply change the DNS to googles public DNS.  That seems to be the ligit fix as of now.  If that doesn't work for someone having this problem, go for the Guide in the OP, and if the problem still lingers simply contact the knowledge center.  Links below.

With Public DNS by Google

IP Address:  192.168.1.218 (Note: That is your choosing.  Whatever IP you put for the DMZ, and/or Port fowarding)

Subnet Mask:  255.255.255.0  or it could be 255.255.254.0 - - - - Whatever one it is for you.

Default Router:  192.168.1.1 "192.168.1.1 is the router IP"  That is the number(s) you need to put.

Primary DNS:   8.8.8.8 (Google Public DNS)
Secondary DNS:
8.8.4.4  (Google Public DNS)

  • Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU)  Set this option to Automatic.
  • Proxy ServerDo Not Use.
  • UPnPDisable
  • Press X button to save your settings, and do a Connection Test after the PS3 saves. (Save completed)

NOTE:  The simple pictured guide below the OP is how to basicly set up the router.

I have posted about this lingering and annoying problem for quite some time now. Bambi I thank you for your efforts to remedy this. But I'm losing faith with Sony. I hate to speculate but I think this affects ps+ users which prevents us to download and play games that are free with the subscription. I never had this issue before I converted to a ps+ user. Where a user is located has nothing to do with it. I've seen Canadian players have this issue but I am located in Massachusetts! I tried nearly everything suggested, from Dmz, to restore and rebuild in safe mode, port forward, called Sony tech support which are useless cuz they refer to the same notes we have access to (knowledge center), chat agent the same way. I refuse to turn off my firewall. No one should resort to that just to download games. I have FiOS fiber optic with 75/35 speed. My isp is not the problem. So taking my ps3 and going to a friends house is not an option. The only other thing I'd like to try is add my old linksys router but I don't want to interfere with my set up with the stb boxes and other devices.

There has to be other users affected by this problem but are not coming forward to speak on it. If you have this problem you should speak up!

@Bambi-01us:

Did everything you have posted your instructions correctly, but instead of the Internet saying Succeeded, I ended up getting Failed instead and it gives me the message "An error occurred during communication with the server. This is a DNS error. (80710102)".

     Hello Everyone,

I personaly don't think it's to do with just Sony.  I think it has to do with our ISP to.  If it wasn't our ISP then we shouldn't have to change the DNS to make it work.  That is my way of logical thinking on this matter.  I used to run on DSL and had no issues.  Now I'm on Cable with fast speeds up to 50MB a second and now I had the issue till I started to brain storm all my problems I was having with this situation.  I come to find out with that guide I brewed up that it did help a lot.

The error still effected me here and there untill I learned about Google DNS.  After I stuffed that in there with all my work, I have not seen the issue effect me.  Google DNS is the answer, and if it doesn't help please read the OP.  if the problem is still persistant, contact the playstation knowledge center.  They now have a live chat.

I stuck us all a basic way to figure out the router settings.  I hope this helps.  Please continue to page 1 (Guide after the OP).  The post right below the first post.  Your issue sounds like you arn't putting the right IP address in the PlayStation.  Be sure it's the same IP you created on the router.  Your playstation will not find this out for itself.  You need to manually set this up in your Network settings via your PlayStation 3 system.
