LoGging in

I have a question just bought a new ps3 wanting to use my old I'd from my previous one I had but it will not let me sign in to it. I changed my password and it will let me log on with it on the ps3 webpage as I am doing now. How do I get to do this on the ps3? Help me out please

It says you can not sign in using another users sign in id
